Israeli Poll: Half of All Female Doctors Report Being Sexually Harassed

I have the following questions for my fellow PF members:

1. Why do you think that sexual harassment is so rampant in Israeli hospitals?

2. How can this be combatted?

As always, all opinions are welcome.

 

1. It's nothing unique to Israel.
2. No nonsense anti-harassment policy + Serious enforcement (+ Physical fitness + Martial arts if necessary).

 

I wonder how many of all their patients report the same.

Sexual harassment, in the work place or elsewhere is part of life.
How is this combatted?
By segregation. You become a nun or a monk.

 

Is it especially “rampant” in Israeli hospitals? Those figures sounds consistent with self-reporting surveys on sexual harassment I’ve seen in other environments and other countries (though I expect hospitals in general will have specific risk factors). Unfortunately, “low level” harassment is common pretty much everywhere.

Recognising it as a general problem to address rather than focusing on a specific people or places for unrelated partisan political purposes might be a start.

 

Oh, I'm sure that you could find examples of sexual harassment in other countries as well, but it's still disturbing to read about an Israeli survey that shows that half of all female doctors report being sexually harassed.

I agree with this sensible comment.

Wait, I'm confused... Are you saying that the Israeli newspapers that published this survey have a nefarious political agenda?

 

No, they have a nefarious financial agenda, publishing salacious articles because it gets them readers. "News"papers elsewhere do the same thing, obviously with a focus on their countries.

The political agenda was entirely yours, in the selection, focus and spin you gave the story.

I don't wish to sound rude, but honestly, most jewish women that I've seen look like this:

Ultra Orthodox Jews got their fanatic opinions of women and their place in society.

 

In a survey of high-achieving physician-scientists by the journal JAMA, nearly a third of women reported experiencing sexual harassment in America. I think the situation is similar for other professional women in any fields.

 

Pushing the obvious humor aside for a moment, 99.99% of the women affected by sexual harassment are attractive. The solution is a clear policy that is enforced.
If "most" Jewish women you see look like those pictures, you may want to change where you hang out.

Just what I suspected. Wide brush strokes - with what most would deem "sexual harassment" being probably 5%, and the harmless flirting making up 95% of the bogus stat.

 

Every now and then you come across a woman who simply has no libido. It's not a huge percentage, but on a planet with 3.5 billion, there's going to be millions. To these women - ANYTHING is going to come off as inappropriate. They need to realize they're the weirdos in the situation, men flirting with women is biology - not a conspiracy, and the great majority of women actually dig it - so long as guys know to stop when it's clear attraction isn't reciprocated.

4 out of 5 women do not want to identify themselves as feminists. If the 1 out of 5 cares about "progress", she'll buy cats and leave politics alone. She's digging the left's grave faster than the right could ever dream of.

It went with the argument that orthodox jews got utter backward views about how a woman should behave. Them lot, and Israel got a lot of them, cause a lot of trouble for women in general in Israel. So it's to no surprise hospitals have trouble with those gimps as well. Spitting on women who don't dress the way they like, and all of that.
