Israel is kind enough to drop leaflets onto the area they are going to bomb [if civilian area]. This allows civilians to leave so there are no casualties. But wait. This also allows militants to leave. So... if the civilians leave, and if Hamas also leave... all before the bombings begin... then what is really being accomplished by bombing the area? We know the Hamas infrastructure and equipment is poor, so there isn't much to take with them... if anything. Sat images would clearly show if militants leave with lots of equipment, so this could be watched as a bonus... but I doubt Hamas has major stores to move at any time; more likely there are one or two weapons kicking around in any particular place. Hamas would be foolish to have major weapons cache that they cannot defend. So what is the reason to bomb what would be [should be] an empty building?
Ha, no thoughts? Neither side wanting to chime in on this? How about the Pro Palestinian point of view: "Bombing empty buildings to extend the new building zone of Israel"? I thought you guys would be all over that point
Maybe it's a hand job for the pro Hamas main stream media. They're the ones who think it's possible to fight terrorism without killing anyone, so dropping leaflets instead of bombs right away must make their hearts warm at CNN. I hope Israel turns every Hamas member to a bloody pulp and leave the mess to serve as an example to future wannabe jihadists.
Paper is cheap; bombs, particularly the kind Israel uses for pinpoint strikes are expensive. Suppose the Israelis see some indication of Hamas assembling some of their missiles in one place and launch some warning leaflets. They may or may not bomb the site but it could get Hamas scampering all over the place and limit some of their strikes (with resultant counter-strikes).
Appears to be nice, but it doesn't actually fight terrorism at all, if the culprits get away! - - - Updated - - - Fair enough, but I'm talking about when bombs are actually dropped. I'm assuming that at least Hamas has up and left since there is no point in being bombed. So what's the point of bombing an empty building?
Very noble of them. Problem is that if the wind catches these leaflets and blows them somewhere other than the area to be bombed... Bombing empty buildings? Punishment; pure and simple, in the same way that bombing the power station and water supplies is.
My response was to indicate that the warnings would be dropped BEFORE a rocket launch - sort of like - "Hey, you Hamas jerks, we've got you in our sights right now and we know what you're going. One more step and the next thing flying over won't be pieces of paper."
It's a pretty solid assumption. If you get a leaflet from Israel saying you're about to be bombed, you don't hang around. Why would you assume they do hang around? - - - Updated - - - Oh, I agree, that certainly seems like a fair tactic... what I meant was in regards to the thread topic.
Dear Palestinian, We are going to destroy your home and village tomorrow. Please accommodate for this and our thanks for your cooperation. - Israel
