I believe this forum consists of too many subs and this creates problems navigating and deciding in which sub to publish what thread. Many times interesting threads get lost because they are placed in sections nobody cares about when they could have as well been placed somewhere else. Too many of the subs overlap and many of the subs are entirely redundant and should be trashed.

For example we have Latest US & World News and Current Events that could very easily be morphed into one and the same thread to leave out confusion and double posting and instead concentrate discussions about x to one thread. Political Opinions & Polls should be removed entirely or at least made into a sub of the Political Opinions & Beliefs-section. This thread already has room for discussions on Political Science and therefore having a separate thread for the latter is redundant.

Additionally, Economics & Trade and Budget & Taxes should be morphed into one and the same sub as these overlap too much to be different. A name-change of the sub could be useful. This of course means the sub of Finance is entirely redundant and thus should be removed altogether. History & Past Politicians is redundant as well as there already is a sub for Histor & Culture, Additionally, Military & Warfare and Conspiracy Theories both have too many subs where they really need none.

Finally, Environment & Conservation overlaps with Survival & Sustainability, Global Issues and Animal Welfare and the latter three should be trashed since such discussions can be held in the previous.

I would suggest something like this:

    General Political Chat
    Latest US & World News
    Political Opinions & Beliefs
    Elections & Campaigns
    Humor & Satire

    More Topics
    Religion & Philosophy
Music, TV, Movies & Other Media
    Science
    History & Culture:
    Off Topic;
Sports, Computure & Tech, Animals & Pets, Food & Wine

    Political Issues
Civil Rights: Keep subs as they are
    Abortion
    Warfare & Military;
    Remove all subs
    Gun Control
    Economics & Trade
    Environment & Conservation
    Law & Justice

    Health Care
    Other Political Issues:
Remove Veterans, Global Issues, Animal Welfare, Social Security, Capaign & Political Reform.

    Politics By Regions
    Leave as it is. [/SPOLIER]

    What do you think?

Just hit new posts. Anything that has action shows up.

This is not about finding "hot topics", but about changing the layout to make it look more inviting and make it more user-friendly by removing the unnecessary sub-forums to concentrate discussions into one thread instead of twelve different threads in twelve different subs. It is about making navigation easier and getting rid off the problem of threads being placed in the wrong sub.

I could even see a down-narrowing of the Politics By Region-sub to only include Europe, Asia/Oceania, Americas, Middle East and Africa. By doing this it would look much better on the eye. Most discussions that could be held in these subs are held elsewhere anyways, but this I feel this would be a good adjustment for the sake of style.

Perhaps I am just a bit autistic, but this is something that really annoys me.

What annoys me is the number of duplicated topics/threads on the main forums. It's also notable that we don't see much American member involvement on the Western Europe forum, suggesting there's little interest in non-US regions. But that figures, because I have no interest in US politics because I don't know any of the secondary players, therefore I mainly post about international issues and events. And I've only ever visited the Australian forum on one or two occasions in all the time I've been a member of PF, and daresay that not many Australian members visit the Western Europe one. It's a 'horses for courses' thing I suppose, and we're only interested in our own bailiwicks?

Are you one of those people who walks into a house then start moving the furniture around.... lol JK I kinda agree with you, I don't often use the new posts tab and more likely to scour the Latest and Current news sections for interesting threads... don't care if it's busy, only care if it's something I'm not familiar with or find interesting. There are a lot of dups in current and latest news threads because current is a synonym for latest.

Well, actually I kind of am. Obviously not to the degree that I will re-furnish someone else's house, but if drawers and cupboards are not properly closed, I will run around closing them.

Exactly! And the same applies for other sections as well. Also, it really annoys me that there is a Creative Corner-sub when we already have one for Humor & Satire and one for music and films. Debates & Contest is the most useless one since there is no initiatives to make something out it from anyone and since this is already a debate forum, having a separate sub for it is rather pointless.

The Abortion and Gun Control subs are vey boring because the debates and arguments are repetitive and lame. Perhaps suggesting trashing both or at least one of these subs is too controversial, but... Why not?
