Top people in the Turkish government want to establish a new Caliphate over the region, and taking Kurdistan's oil and Syria's wealth are the covetous reason that the Turkish government is at war with the Kurds & Syria. It isn's a full war, because the Turkish government needs Europe and America to help them take over the region which may also include Iraq. The Israelis can't manage to take the region, so they have their proxies do it for them.

The secular state of Turkey has been battling its Kurdish citizens for decades.

Has nothing to do with religion- Turkey hates the idea of Kurdish seperatists.

I am fairly certain that Turkey is the most secular government in the Middle East.

    Reference?

Are you even aware that the Republic of Turkey is secularized in it's Constitution? And that before any such thing happens, they are going to have to have a very messy Civil War?

I absolutely love when people make such claims without references, and apparently without any real knowledge of the area.

On a humerous side note, I was amused earlier today when I got a notification on my phone of a news alert. I have it set to alert me when certain key words are met, like "PATRIOT Missile". I only get the headline, and have to look it up myself. And on a page surrounded by Thanksgiving stories and the such you expect the day before Thanksgiving here in the US, I get this alert:

Turkey wants use of air defense missiles

Whoah! Those Turkeys are not gonna just take it this year, they are going to fight our appetites this time! What next, Hams with STRYKERS?

Then I read the article, whew!

He is right though Turkey would like to get at the Kurds. All the other stuff is wrong.

While I admit, my faith in the Turks is not very high in and of itself, I still like to see references.

And I admit, the Turks have a pretty nasty reputation among their neighbors. And I for one have not forgotten Armenia.

But I would not call it "get rid of", as much as "do not want them in their territory". And let's be honest, nobody in the region really "wants" to see "Kurdistan" come to existance.

The region claimed in "Kurdistan" includes parts of Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. And most of the rebels fighting in Northern Syria are Kurds. And they also want to rebuild the Golden Age of their culture as they see it, the Ayyubid Dynasty. This is teh dynasty that rules most of the Middle East, from Libya to Turkey. Founded my it's patriarch Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb.

Or as he is known to most Westerners, "Saladin".
