This happens every election cycle, always in red states with extremist governors. Why do they hate our veteran heroes so much?
oh, but how hard can it be for him to just get... whatever Scott Walker says he should? and, what about all that rampant voter fraud? he probably wasn't going to vote for Trump anyway, so what does this even matter?
Am i his family? Somehow my 97 year old great aunt has a State ID... And then the derr how can he pay?? How can anyone? What is it with Progressives and their need for everything to be "free"
http://www.aflcio.org/content/download/3434/35953/MYTHS.pdf. - - - Updated - - - What if he has no family? You're the one (or people like you) who are putting this burden on him
Seems it is not. You do know most State Id's have a designation for Vets do you not? - - - Updated - - - He isnt paying to vote. - - - Updated - - - What burden?
Who cares? I ask again, why can't his PHOTO Veterans ID be good enough to allow him to vote? Why must a WW2 Veteran be denied to vote in his local election?
http://www.va.gov/healthbenefits/vhic/index.asp Notice what is missing on that ID? No one is denying him anything he is fully capable of having a State ID.
ask bernie,e he was head of the va when veterans were neglected and died while waiting to be seen by doctors.
Why did this State Supreme Court Justice not help him obtain a free state ID in the last two years? Madison – Senator Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg), Chair of the Senate Elections and Local Government Committee, issued the following statement in response to Justice Ann Walsh Bradley’s letter to Governor Walker about veteran IDs: “As someone who heard arguments on voter ID in 2014, Justice Ann Walsh Bradley is fully aware of permissible IDs under the law. Instead of trying to score political points from the bench, Justice Ann Walsh Bradley could have helped her uncle obtain a free state ID over the past two years. I wholeheartedly agree that we should make it easier for veterans to vote by making veteran IDs an acceptable form of voter ID. That’s why I included this provision in Senate Bill 295. Additionally, SB 295 allows Election Registration Officials to register residents at Residential Care Facilities and allows residents at those facilities to use their intake documents as a proof of residency. It is unfortunate that Justice Ann Walsh Bradley chose to use the clout of her nonpartisan position, her state letterhead, and a staff member’s time in a political ploy rehashing a piece of legislation that is settled law. If Justice Ann Walsh Bradley feels the need to help fix this issue, she could get behind SB 295 and applaud Republicans for supporting a veteran ID fix. The veteran ID provision of SB 295 will go into effect as soon as the bill is signed into law. Therefore, it’s likely to be in place for the April 5th election.” http://wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=365867 The state Senate is expected to take up a wide-ranging bill on March 15 that includes a provision that would allow veterans cards to be used for voting. Walker spokeswoman Laurel Patrick said the governor planned to sign legislation that would allow voters to use veterans ID cards to vote if it gets to him. That is expected to happen next month.
Another liberal thread fail. http://mediatrackers.org/wisconsin/2016/02/26/iwo-jima-veteran-couldnt-vote The state ID card needed if FREE. The VA lets its members know that the ID card that they issue is often not accepted is ID by other entities.
So the cons have NO issues with this WW2 Veteran being able to use his Veterans ID to fly on a plane but are completely fine that his man who served his Country was denied at the polls because his Governor believes in the myth of MASSIVE voter impersonation fraud. Unreal.
Florida ID's have no such designation. As far as a burden, the cost for an ID is $28. For you that may not be much, but for a 94 year old man living off $1200 a month in Social Security, it's a lot. Add in the cost of travelling to the drivers license office to get the ID and it gets worse.
Unknot your panties Walter, I think it is a "Con" that proposed veteran ID provision of SB 295 and a "Con" that has promised to sign it.
U.S. Military Veteran: Special Designation Veterans living in Florida may add a veteran designation to their Florida state ID cards. A “V" notation will display on the right side of the card. To add the “V" to a Florida ID card, veterans can: Visit any Florida driver's license. Present a DD-214, showing an honorable discharge from active duty. Pay a one-time $1 fee, in addition to the $25 replacement or renewal identification card fee. To obtain a copy of your DD-214, submit an online request through the National Archives. $26... And yes the designation exists. http://www.dmv.org/fl-florida/id-cards.php
When you pass ID laws without making sure to give all citizens a valid ID, you're either stupid or you're trying to quash certain voting blocs. If you're trying to quash the elderly veteran voting bloc, you're dispicable. Then again, we're talking about Scott Walker - the man is an elitist who would probably relish the chance to be a middleman in a despotic regime.
I don't understand how things work in America but if one is on the voting register in Australia one has to vote. We don't need to produce ID when voting. One would think Leo Olson was on the voting register.
