I still haven't decided who I would want to run....and possibly win....the presidency in 2016. However, I read about Jeb Bush's talk at the UNC Business School....and I like what I heard: "Included the need for immigration reform, fixes for K-12 education, and why leadership matters in todays political climate. Bush said immigration reform is necessary because the country needs more immigrants who are more economically driven. He said he wants to encourage immigrants with higher degrees to come to the United States. A modernized immigration system would be a catalytic converter for economic growth, Bush said. In terms of education reform, Bush said the country as a whole does not focus enough on academics. Here we worry about self-esteem, he said. In Asia, they worry about whether or not their kids understand algebra and science. Bush also said he would propose moving the system toward ensuring kids are literate by fourth grade, which would require raising expectations placed on kids. We need to stop this political correctness, Bush said. Our standards are too diluted. Jack Evans, interim dean of the business school, concluded the talk by sharing his admiration for Bushs policies. An important question today is, Are leaders willing to take their own advice? Evans said. You are what you described, he said, referring to Bush. Freshman Craig Amasya said Bush was a passionate speaker with a lot of experience to share. I didnt necessarily agree with everything he said, but I definitely respect him, he said. We all want the same result, theres just different ways to get there. Freshman David Snedecor, who is enrolled in the business school, said he appreciated Bushs talk for its specificity. I wish there were more people like him in the political world, Snedecor said. He knows his stuff. I wish more political arguments were that substantive. Bush said he enjoyed the opportunity to visit UNC. It was great, he said. Ive never been to campus before. I always felt like UNC had a reputation for being hospitable, and this has definitely been validated. Its been a privilege. http://www.dailytarheel.com/article/2014/01/jeb-bush-talks-leadership-at-unc
Jeb Bush needs to run interference for us. The media will not be able to resist attacking him 24/7 because he's a Bush. Then, boom, Scott Walker/Marco Rubio ticket comes in from the sides and sacks them while they're looking the other way.
It's still too early to be thinking about any candidates. But whatever, if you think Jeb Bush is a good choice, look at what he stands for and his history. As far as I'm concerned, go for it.
Ahh, the smart Bush Boy, too bad bro poisoned the family name. Can't you guys find a Hoover? Or a Nixon?
Well I'll be old enough to run for president by the time we have our next elections if you want to vote for me. Don't get me wrong, I have no platform and really no plans for the country but you got to admit President of the United States looks pretty good on a resume. Also I so totally plan on buying me a pepsi on somebody's tax dollars so who wants to give it up? Anyone?
Three Bush's in a row. Hmmm, why don't you guys just crown him King and that way you won't have to worry about suppressing the votes.
Well, not in a row. But, yeah, this dynasty crap has got to go. This is America, we aren't supposed to have ruling families. I don't want another president named Bush OR Clinton in my lifetime for that reason alone.
The problem with the Bushies is they never leave a State, Country or private entity in a healthier economic condition than when they took it over. Moi No
Jeb was gov in Florida and the public schools still suck. Do we really need another pointless Bush war? Who does Jeb plan on invading?
Jeb Bush looks good only to the RINO supporters of the two previous Bush Presidents. Neither of those eminences did much more than compromise away Republican principles. They deserve their name of "Establishment" Republicans. Besides, who is Jeb Bush? Most of the country doesn't know him. If he's true to his brand, he'll "get along" with Democrats by supporting central Democrat positions. Being a Bush no more qualifies Jeb for the White House than being a Kennedy qualified the late unlamented "Teddy." Republicans should not reprise the Democrat mistake by relying on a family rather than a platform the country can get behind.
Scott Walker has to win re-election first and the fact is he'll be facing a good candidate and the fact that WI is 44th in job creation since Walker took over. I read a poll that Walker had a 47-44 lead over his likely Democratic opponent and that 50% of WI had a negative perception of Walker and 70% didn't even know anything about his opponent. Rubio's presidential aspirations imploded last years when Democrats allowed Rubio and his ego to get slapped down by House Republicans regarding immigration. He'll be running for another term as junior U.S. Senator from Florida in 2016.
How is Hillary tainted? Tell the GOP that because they are obviously terrified of her. Even Mama Bush has stated more than once that there have been enough Bushes in the White House, and know Babs is the Enforcer in the Bush household.
Barbara Bush: we have had enough Bush presidents Barbara Bush has dampened speculation that she will have a second son in the White House, saying that the US has "had enough Bushes." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...-Bush-we-have-had-enough-Bush-presidents.html
I think it really tells you something that the Republicans are already looking at another Bush to save the party after eight years of nonsense from W. If Rand Paul or Ted Cruz run it will be another 1964 type slaughter and Democrats may even take back control of the House (even if the margin is only a few seats).
I am hesitant to say it...but I think perhaps Jed is indeed looking rather good in comparison....at least he might provide a race.
Americans are as weary of an establishment Democratic Wing of the RepubloCratic Party White House, as they were with the Republican Wing of same party in 2008. Obama being a "fresh face" had some advantage over any GOP candidate, especially a recycled face. The Democratic Wing's only hope is to run a "fresh face". Hillary has the backing to secure the nomination, but NOT win a general election. 2016 is the Republican's Wing to lose. Regardless of polls today, any GOP candidate who does not balkanize Americans into "takers" and such has an automatic advantage of these hard times. If you study 1964, LBJ was doing a proto Dirty Tricks campaign on Goldwater. LBJ would have won anyways, with the recent assassination and all, but still he was doing an overboard campaign as was his style. 1964 is hardly a normal enough election to use as a reverence. The problem with your statement is that the only way to win the Republican nomination is to balkanize America into 'takers'. That's why the RNC wants fewer debates during the next election cycle--so their candidates won't be so exposed and say something that can be used against them during the general election. The problem with the Republican wing is that its leaderless right now and the fact that Jeb Bush's name is being mentioned shows how shallow their bench is right now and it's a tactic admission that the Republican wing doesn't want to run an polarizing candidate from the Tea Party wing (Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, or Ted Cruz).
Jeb "He's a load; he's my brother" Bush would have a heavy burden to bear, especially with the likely Democratic nominee evoking those halcyon days of pre-dubya prosperity and budget-balancing, free of contrived, multi-trillion dollar nation-building fiascos. How would the smarter Bush be able to ignore the embarrassment as the GOP has assiduously done in 2010 and 2012 elections? On the other hand, with the recent immolation in New Jersey , the GOP is hard-pressed to find normals to nominate, so the Party's Turdblossom Elite may well continue beating around the bush. Better go with Jeb next and keep Neil or Marvin on the shelf until '20.
Of course they are TERRIFIED of her,,any person that can duck all those bullets in Tuzla has my respect.....She's a regular Rambo, and as HONEST as they come.... Well,,,err perhaps it was not Tuzala,,,Hey wait,,it was Benghazi,,yeah that's it. She was so open and honest and it's not like she had an attitude of ''WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE'' ,,nope she was brave, honest and ,,,and....errrr,,,well maybe it wasn't Benghazi either...
Those dwelling in Liberal Fairyland may not realize the disgust and sense of betrayal felt by average Americans for Obama, and by extension his party, or at least his water carriers in that party. That's why Democrats such as Henry Waxman, Carolyn McCarthy, and Mike McIntyre have announced their retirements. The devastation wrought by Obamacare has just begun to be felt. The President used one woman as a prop for his State of the Union speech, but for every one such as her, there are many to have their insurance canceled, only to find they can't afford the Obamacare replacements. The number of uninsured will soar. Remember when the number of uninsured was in the news every day and was used to justify Obamacare? Do you think voters will reward the Congressmen who voted for Obamacare without even reading the bill? Meanwhile the Labor Force Participation Rate continues to fall as people give up looking for work, and the official Unemployment Rate has become a joke because it refers to a shrinking labor force. Most polls show that Americans see jobs as the number one issue. Did you notice that President Obama said not one word in his State of the Union speech about anything he might do to create jobs? The sad fact is that the President and those with him live at a remove from the reality of America. They neither know nor care how the rest of us live. They're guided by ideology, like blind moles digging furiously underground, guided by instinct. So it's up to Republicans to seize the opportunity Democrats present them. Their fatal error would be to back the Republicans that Democrats and the Liberal Press think are "nice," i.e., the Republicans willing to acquiesce in Democrat policies. But if voters are ready to turn from Democrats, why would they want Democrats Lite in the guise of Republicans? Those politicians will fare best who offer intellectual and moral clarity, asserting Conservative ideas with force. Casting aside the mush-mouthed equivocation of Moi's "Republocrats" would delight dispirited voters. P.S. Democrats won in 1964 by persuading voters that Goldwater might start a nuclear war. How ironic, considering that Democrat Kennedy brought us to the brink of nuclear war in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Democrat Johnson escalated the Vietnam War.
