Like his radical days at Holy Cross. His admiration for the Black Panthers. And then, his political about face, making him one of the most extremist conservative justices in history.

I invite you to listen/watch any or all of the following........

https://www.msnbc.com/all The segment titled, "How Clarence Thomas 'pulled the ladder up behind him' on affirmative action

    This....https://www.wnyc.org/story/slates-slow-burn-focuses-justice-clarence-thomas/

    or this......

Perhaps his hatred of AA stems from the fact he benefited from it. Actually, I don't think there's any doubt about it.

Judge Clarence Thomas, who came to prominence as a fierce black critic of racial preference programs, was admitted to Yale Law School under an explicit affirmative action plan with the goal of having blacks and other minority members make up about 10 percent of the entering class, university officials said. Under the program, which was adopted in 1971, the year Judge Thomas applied, blacks and some Hispanic applicants were evaluated differently from whites, the officials said. Nonetheless, they were not admitted unless they met standards devised to predict they could succeed at the highly competitive school.

And? Another hit piece against Thomas, my candidate for MVJ, by MSNBC? Why should I care.

By the way thanks for an article showing that people do sometimes grow up. Good to know.

You are welcome to hold that opinion. The point being his background explains his disdain for AA. He can't stand the thought of other black people benefiting from the program he was advantaged by. It happens.

Because Judge Thomas has been such a resolute opponent of goals and quotas, the circumstances of his admission to Yale underscore the complexity of the racial currents that have swirled around his nomination to the Supreme Court. 'Pretty Clearly Stated'

"We did adopt an affirmative action program and it was pretty clearly stated," said Prof. Abraham S. Goldstein, who was dean of the Law School from 1970 to 1975. Professor Goldstein said Thursday that the school used a set of minimum standards based on college grades and test scores to insure that it offered places to only those minority students who had a strong chance of succeeding.

This reminds me very much of illegals that come here illegally but still don't want more illegals because even though they benefited from it they still know it isn't a good idea

On Thomas's Climb, Ambivalence About Issue of Affirmative Action

...In a 1987 panel discussion at the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions in Santa Barbara, Calif., he said that "ultimately any race-conscious remedy is no good." When Joseph H. Duff, another participant, said that he was admitted to the University of California Law School under a racial preference program and that was "good for society," Mr. Thomas sharply interjected, "No, that was good for you."

Yet in a 1983 speech to staff members at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which he then headed, he said that affirmative action laws were of "paramount importance" to him.

"But for them, God only knows where I would be today,"
he said. "These laws and their proper application are all that stand between the first 17 years of my life and the second 17 years."

Don't tow the liberal line or challenge their perceived superior agenda... you become a target of character assassination.

What an ugly color on the most arrogant around us.

There is no proof that was the basis for his admittance. If we didn't have AA policies, you wouldn't be able to make that claim which is the point.

Or are you claiming that he wasn't good enough to get in?

Careful here. Your bordering on the racist position.

...It was this sense that he had earned everything, and that nothing was given him because of his race, that has made him an impassioned opponent of affirmative action. "I was raised to survive under the totalitarianism of segregation, not only without the active assistance of government but with its active opposition," he once said in a speech entitled, "Why Black Americans Should Look to Conservative Policies."

Judge Thomas, an outspoken opponent of most racial preference programs and quotas during his career, was admitted to Yale under a program that considered minority applicants in a pool separate from white applicants, with the goal of having minority members make up 10 percent of the class.

Actually the constitution more than adequately explains his disdain for AA.

Leave it to you to mischaracterize the objection of immigrants who came here legally or ones in line to become legal to those who want to "jump the line." Thomas's hatred of AA came from the way being advantaged by it made him feel.
