Of all of the crazy notions floating around, this one has to take the cake.

In reality, it was a few Blue states that didn't take Trump seriously when he banned travel from China. And now Washington State and New York are hot spots.

Even Newsom in California realized that the disease wasn't something to take lightly.

Now Cuomo is acting like he is competent, when in fact he failed to take initial measures.

Canada has now sealed the border in spite of air traffic still coming in from mainland China to Vancouver. Justin Trudeau is another flunky.

 

This tells you all you need to know about some in MSM, there aren't enough adjectives to explain the stupidity of this women.

Her (essential) premise makes perfect sense.

The idea that the RW (and Trump's Supporters) are More Distrustful of Government (and thus, less likely to heed government directives).

Take this virus seriously and convince the rest of your Republicans that this is a very serious virus which requires immediate alterations to their behavior.

 

I don't know, there could be two theories:

1) The Fox news watchers have succumbed to the propaganda that the virus is just like a regular cold/flu. They aren't taking any precautions to protect themselves, i.e. their death fate will be higher.

2) The Fox news viewers actually only regurgitated the propaganda of the virus being no big deal in order to protect Trump. Behind closed doors, they were their usual fearful selves and started social distancing. If that is the case, their death rates may be same or less than anyone else's.

Which of the two is correct? I don't know.

And it is true. Trumpers are most likely to get this and die. They are the ones denying the reality. We have the evidence from infections at CPAC and Mar a Lago, and however many republicans are currently in quarantine now. Just the other day even knowing he might be infected, trump was shaking hands with all the people leading the response to this, which was freaking insane. He KNEW he had been exposed at Mar a Lago AND that other people there had become infected. Unfreakingbelievable!!!!

 

Yea...you are trying to argue that I am demanding she prove a negative? All you would need to do to prove her wrong is to look at mortality data and evaluate the impact on this virus by political ideology.

I think it was the governor of Alabama who was still planning to attend a big St. Patricks day celebration being held. I'd bet you won't find more than a handful of liberals dumb enough to attend. But trumpers will be chugging the green beer and mingling like everything is fine.

 

The inverse of that claim is the argument being made by the OP, not the article.

The article is making the argument that Republicans are more likely to view this virus as not a threat, one not worthy of altering their behavior immediately, when compared against Democrats. And so both will get infected at pretty the same rate, eventually, but if one group gets infected during at the same time as the health infrastructure is overly stressed and is unable to provide adequate care, then that group is also more likely to die.

I think her case can be made, but I doubt we'll ever know the political affiliation of all the deceased in the US...

By the way, I would defend the big city left if a FAKE NEWS writer said more Dems would die than Republicans because of they occupy urban cities. The vast majority of coronavirus deaths in the U.S. have come in "liberal" Washington, California and New York.

Therefore, the LW is more trusting OF Government.

Given: Trump is the current head of the government.

Therefore, the LW trusts Trump more.
