Shi Shi, Thank You, Beast Mode. The Chinese Gospel story is a very beautiful development and discovery.
When China wakes up to it's 4500+ year history of being in the Gospel of "nature's God", it will greatly change the worid.
The orthodox faith system held by most dynasties of China since at least the Shang Dynasty (1766 BCE) until the modern period centered on the worship of Shangdi (literally "Above Sovereign", generally translated as "God") or Heaven as an omnipotent force.[89] This faith system pre-dated the development of Confucianism and Taoism and the introduction of Buddhism and Christianity. It has features of monotheism in that Heaven is seen as an omnipotent entity, endowed with personality but no corporeal form. From the writings of Confucius in the Analects, we find that Confucius himself believed that Heaven cannot be deceived, Heaven guides people's lives and maintains a personal relationship with them, and that Heaven gives tasks for people to fulfill in order to teach them of virtues and morality.[89] However, this faith system was not truly monotheistic since other lesser gods and spirits, which varied with locality, were also worshiped along with Shangdi. Still, variants such as Mohism approached high monotheism, teaching that the function of lesser gods and ancestral spirits is merely to carry out the will of Shangdi, akin to angels in Western civilization
you know saying 1 being is supreme is not that hard a concept just being monotheistic doesn’t make a religions god the same as another monotheistic religions god even polytheist have merged different but similar gods form different pantheons as just being the same god going by multiple names
Isn't that just what happened with the Hebrew Elohim/YHWH relative to the earlier Mesopotamian pantheon?
so what we have here is a combination of religious faith and faith in the superiority of one’s nation or ethnicity nice
Most likely, yes. Religion is no different from culture, in that it borrows from predecessors and contemporaries.
Granny says, "Dat's right - Jesus loves the lil' Chinese chil'uns too... Christianity Growing In China Sep 20, 2013 ~ There was a fascinating article in of all places China Daily, the closest one comes to an "official" English-language newspaper in China about the leader of the officially sanctioned Protestant churches in China calling for tailoring sermons for Chinese Christians based on their various personal backgrounds.
Most Chinese have no interest in religion. They will often engage a missionary in conversation, tho. Not to hear the westerner's superstition but to get a chance to practice conversational English.
