A ten year old girl going up an escalator is not an adult. Two 14 year old girls are not adults. A changing room full of girls 14-18 are not adults.

Before President Trump was a politician he was just a quick cash lawsuit. Any lawsuits after? Notice how VERY RARELY a politician gets sued for sexual/indecent behavior?

Not that I've conducted a survey or anything, but the handful of women I've talked to about men crying, each insisted crying indicates a strong man, not a weak one. I really don't understand why, as they were simple answers, but my point is that societal "norms" aren't always the norm you might think they are.

I disagree. Sounds like something people used to say when I was growing up. I don't know if it's a Catholic thing - my maternal grandmother devoted her whole life to the church - but I can picture my grandmother saying those same words to my sister. The nuns would teach the girls how to sit; girls learned about crossing their legs. There's really nothing creepy about it. Joe Biden is a devout Catholic from a bygone era. With all my fellow senior citizens here...well...memory is the first to go

I did not think about sex, it can be creepy without it being about sex.

Also, not to change the subject totally, but not sure him being Catholic is a great defense with their history of priest and young people

 

If Biden was not a recognized and confirmed child oriented pervert you may have an argument except she is not the girl’s grandmother.

In this case, "creepy" most definitely implies sex. If Biden had told her about eating pig vomit on Fear Factor, you would have a point.

The Church itself is irrelevant. My point is culture. My maternal grandfather also devoted his life to the church. He never talked to anyone much less touched them.

What Biden said was something I heard, myself, when I was growing up. In school from nuns, and from my grandmother. Dunno bout you, but the common thread I see is Catholic. Whether the priests diddled the boys has no effect on that point.

Simply put, 50 years ago, at least in my little part of the world, what Biden said was common, and most certainly not creepy.

Perhaps you do not agree, but something a grandmother says can seem normal but if the grandfather said the same thing it would be creepy.

And also it was the Catholic culture that allowed the priest to do what they did for so long

Times change. We've gone from "don't get into cars with strangers" to "if a man looks at you, RUN!" This isn't without cause, but I think we have become overprotective not only of children, but of ourselves. That's another discussion entirely.

My point is simple. While my sister was taught proper etiquette by nuns, today's girls grow up in an age of fear. Again, not without cause. While the girl can be expected to feel uncomfortable by Biden's words, this is a product of the times we live in. We cannot therefore conclude that this discomfort originates with Biden. Should he have known better? Perhaps. But what he said was harmless.

We now live in an age where innocent statements like this are used as political daggers. If LBJ had said this when I was 10, my grandmother would have nodded her head in agreement. If anyone had suggested creepiness, she would have told him he was crazy.

That's Church politics. Irrelevant. I'm talking about average everyday Catholics, doing average everyday Catholic things.

To conclude, Biden didn't talk about her period. He didn't mention training bras, panty hose nor contraception. He said she looked like a little lady. Oh the horror.

The people criticizing Biden are the same who voted for a man who said he wanted to **** his daughter. Case closed.
