There's a growing number of reports that Patrick Howley, a journalist from the conservative magazine, the American Spectator became involved in the events that occurred at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Exactly how is unclear. The basic story is this. According to various accounts, the Washington DC version of the "Occupy Wall Street" protest tried to enter the museum on Sunday, where they were met by security guards, told to leave, refused, hit with pepper spray, etc...There was one arrest reported and no injuries. This all took place mid afternoon and the facility closed early for the day as a result. Yesterday, on the American Spectator website, Mr. Howley, an assistant editor at the publication, wrote of the incident in unusual terms. In the absence of ideological uniformity, these protesters have no political power. Their only chance, as I saw it, was to push the envelope and go bold. But, if todays demonstration was any indicator, they dont have what it takes to even do that. Continue reading...
Journalism, (such as it is) is very much under control. The problems start with WHO is in control of it.
Not hardly. I assume you meant George Soros or Barack Obama. The media is "out of control" in the sense that they don't see their responsibility as reporting. They see their responsibility as creating news and participating in events. Why do you think the helpful idiots in the press were giggling and saying, "We got Obama elected." If the OccupyWhatever simply had reporting it would have died already. If unions didn't have media support their extortion would be in trouble. Making the news has always been a problem. Many, many years ago police officers in my town arrested a televison video-journalist for directing violence so he could make a video to sell. Now, it isn't just freelance, though, but it network policy. Seeing the difference in addressing OccupyWherever and TeaParty gatherings tells you pretty much what you need to know.
