JPMorgan CEO Suggests Gov’t Should Seize Private Property For Clean Energy Projects (msn.com)

"JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said in his annual shareholder letter Tuesday that the government may need to seize private property to advance clean energy initiatives.

Dimon discussed the need to quickly begin investing in solar projects and other green initiatives and suggested that the government should use eminent domain to seize property for those projects."

These climate terrorists are now suggesting that the U.S. government seize privately owned land via imminent domain in order to install more wind and solar installations. The U.S. government already controls 28% of the land mass of the United States....

    Take with salt.

Did you weep when the Trump regime seized private property for his failed border wall?

A democrat trying to use government to make his company more competitive, who could have ever predicted that? The real story here is his bank's exposure to his policy in investments of ESGs... Lefties, isn't this what y'all are screaming about as fascism?

The source I posted was MSNBC. A simple Google search will reveal several others as well. However, your terminal case of TDS is noted. How many weeks do you have left to live?

If that's not good enough for you, here is the actual letter to shareholders from JP Morgan. Enjoy....

Jamie Dimon's Letter to Shareholders, Annual Report 2022 | JPMorgan Chase & Co.

"To expedite progress, governments, businesses and non-governmental organizations need to align across a series of practical policy changes that comprehensively address fundamental issues that are holding us back. Massive global investment in clean energy technologies must be done and must continue to grow year-over-year.

At the same time, permitting reforms are desperately needed to allow investment to be done in any kind of timely way. We may even need to evoke eminent domain – we simply are not getting the adequate investments fast enough for grid, solar, wind and pipeline initiatives."

Did you actually think that any liberal media outlets would report this? Thankfully companies like JP Morgan have to make their shareholder letters and meetings public....

I would disagree with this analysis. Government seizing land for private use and development is always, or almost always, a bad idea. I am all for green energy, but I think it has to be an individual choice with tax incentives to provide a financial interest in that decision. But no eminent domain should be used for this.

BTW, most government ownership land owned is in the Westen US States, such as Utah, Arizona, Alaska, New Mexico, and Nevada. Not much in the East, Midwest, and South, outside of military installations, government buildings, and so forth.

You can probably defeat this proposal in the courts with no need to get a gun. Eminent Domain is perfectly legal, through the courts. And even Texas is not considering eminent domain for that wall they are building right now.

FedGov already owns 640 million acres. I'm sure plenty of that is suitable for green energy initiatives. It doesn't need more. It really needs LESS. ****os like JPMorgan CEO know they can pay off politicians to avoid having any of his land seized. I guess they hate that some of us peasants own a little bit of land too.

'Govt, take all their ****, so they'll have to rent from me!' -is whats going on here.

    Pipelines are not generally "green".

I don't worry about Texas. I worry about corrupt (spelled B-I-D-E-N) feds grabbing land like they grab, or try to grab, everything else, from rights, to washing machines, to toilet paper, to beef, to fuel (bye bye National Oil Reserves), and now lightbulbs.
I'll wait and see. I suspect much of this is simply Biden's senility and won't actually happen.

We aren't going to stop using oil and gas any time in the next 50 years, and there are only three ways to get it to market. Trucks, trains, or pipelines. They want us to stop using fossil fuels, so that puts trucks and trains out of the question, leaving only pipelines. Remember that there isn't a single form of "clean, renewable energy" that can be produced without using coal and petroleum byproducts in the manufacturing process. So even "green" isn't green....

That's been happening for a very long time already. You own your own home and land? You think you do, but you don't. Stop paying property taxes and see how long you get to keep it....

Well, a CEO is not going to convince the Biden Administration into doing this to begin with. There may be a bill that might propose this, but it will never pass the house nor senate, period.

The National Oil Reserve is used in emergencies. It depletes and then it is refilled up when there is no emergency. We have used it when he had Katrina. And we used it to lower gas prices because OPEC decides to cut production and no one can match their production capacity combined. And yes, we are an energy supplier, but to us, not much to the rest of the world. And oil is a global commodity, not a local or national one.

Just curious, what other things do governments use eminent domain for and do conservatives get as worked up about that? Sports stadiums? Oil & gas pipelines? Military facilities? Border walls? Do these evoke the sort of hysteria on display here?

If you read the entire letter to the shareholders, he is actually quite critical of the current administration, citing issues with the economy, border control, and crime...

When I clicked on your link, it didn't show up, or direct me to the article you cited. Hence I went by your post alone.

That being said, whether he was critical to the Biden Administration or not is not going to change my argument. There is simply no political will to use eminent domain for private business use. The government is local, state, and federal. Not even in Texas is there political will to do so. It is all done on state land for the wall in order to show "his supporters" he is at least doing something. But that is it.

Compared to railroad cars that fly off the rails, pipelines are much more “green.” Ask the people in Ohio.

That land owned in the western states might have some of the rare earth elements that we will have buy from China to power those electric cars. Instead of looking for those elements here, Biden has forbidden it.

Could it be that Joe is paying his debt for the money Hunter collected? When you family is collecting millions from our enemies, it does not look good.

To do that, if it is true, you have to destroy the land in order to get to it. This is not hydraulic horizontal drilling here. This is old-fashioned, dig a very big hole pit mine in the ground to get to it. Most of that land in the West are owned by the government but is mostly either reservation land or national parks, very large national parks. But the US does have a mine in Grimm, Nevada.

But there are difficult choices that have to be made as the link below describes.

Good point. But that's no reason to make it worse.
