Judge to hear arguments in Zimmerman's defamation suit against NBC



SANFORD, Fla. – A judge is listening to arguments over whether George Zimmerman's defamation lawsuit against NBC Universal should be thrown out.

Attorneys for NBC are arguing Thursday that the case should be dismissed since Zimmerman failed to follow Florida's retraction statute, and he wasn't harmed by the reports.

The case had been postponed pending the conclusion of Zimmerman's murder trial last July. Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder in Trayvon Martin's death.

The former neighborhood watch volunteer filed suit against NBC in 2012, claiming he was defamed when the network edited his 911 call to police after Martin's shooting to make it sound like he was racist.

Zimmerman's attorneys argue they haven't even had time to interview witnesses. They say pretrial depositions will support his claims that NBC's broadcasts were false and reckless.

Abbreviating the text of the message is hardly defamation.. and certainly didn't alter the content. Plus they issued an apology and other networks and news outlets were reporting the call in its entirety. I doubt that Zimmerman will get a dime.

Last I read about GZ was that he's homeless and sleeping on other people's couches.

The designation "White Hispanic" has been around for decades and is included in the US census.. For instance, Cameron Diaz is a white Hispanic...

George sounded like a racist on his own volition.. no one MADE him sound like a racist.. He was fixated on his belief that only young blacks were burglars at the Retreat.. and had a hugely inflated paranoia about the actual number of crimes committed there.

He was shiftless and in debt... living off the system .... with his parents paying his rent before the killing... Why would you suddenly expect anything different.

He may believe that suing the media is his ticket.. but then he was delusional before he killed Trayvon. He won't get a dime.

MSNBC created his anger problems by lying to the entire country and doctoring the tapes. MSNBC's broadcast is the reason for spike lee tweeting the address to zimmermans parents house, and the black panters offering a bounty on his head.

George should get a reward for ridding the world of another violent criminal but whether he gets the money from NBC is yet to be seen.

 

Not to mention being in cahoots with his then wife to lie to the judge about their finances. Wonder if he has paid his attorney fees yet, which is why he probably has the need to fleece whichever entity he can to pay his bills.

George was acquitted in the murder of Trayvon... There is no question that GZ had anger issues 10 years prior or that he shot the boy.

George won't get a windfall and profit from the shooting..

I know liberals hate the entire concept of responsibility, but MSNBC has to pay for telling lies to the American people. Lies that resulted in death threats and a bounty being placed on his head. Lies that led spike lee to tweet out the address to his parents house, forcing them to move, because of all the treats, and lynch mobs arriving at their door.
