In the excerpt played by Mr. Todd, the attorney general said: “Well, history’s written by the winners. So it largely depends on who’s writing the history.” Mr. Todd followed up by saying that he was struck by “the cynicism of the answer. It’s a correct answer. But he’s the attorney general.”

“He didn’t make the case that he was upholding the rule of law,” said Mr. Todd, according to the transcript. “He was almost admitting that, yeah, this is a political job.”

Mr. Barr’s full answer was: “Well, history is written by the winner. So it largely depends on who’s writing the history. But I think a fair history would say that it was a good decision because it upheld the rule of law. It helped, it upheld the standards of the Department of Justice, and it undid what was an injustice.”

Ms. Kupec asked readers to compare the two transcripts.

I sometimes think people are blind to their own shortcomings. The President's re-election committee did a similar thing with an ad about the handling of covid 19. It would appear that distortion is not limited to Chuck Todd:

Are you all really this desperate that you are comparing a so called "news program" to a campaign ad? Well at least you aren't trying to hide the fact that NBC News is nothing more then a campaign ad from the left.

 

Your conclusion is not logical. I was pointing out that often people are upset with people they disagree with do but OK with things that are similar and done by people they agree with. You were quoting "morals" and "honesty" I was pointing out that people in general can be immoral or dishonest it is not linked to what political belief they adhere to.

Actually you might not be far off. We expect politicians in their campaign ads to be distortions of the truth, but now you're equating them to CBS NBC ABC, et all, that's about right, they're about as honest and forthcoming as a politician's campaign ads

 

Chuck Todd's problem is that he is so singularly focused on destroying Trump, every single day of his life. When he sees something which looks damaging to Trump he doesn't question it.

There is no journalistic curiosity or Integrity in Todd. Any professional journalist should see a video snippet like he did and then question it. He should have asked can I see minutes before and after Trump's comment, so that I can understand it with the proper context, but he didn't do that. Todd was just too eager the trash Trump. Todd never takes the time to find out if he is being honest truthful and presenting the facts properly
