This image was taken as part of the work to align each of JWST's mirrors and central collection. It's considered a throw-away, not anything near what the telescope will be able to do when fully tuned up. Scientists working on this say that NO faults have been found in the telescope, by the way. They say that by this time it appears certain that it will be 100% of what was dreamed to be. So, I haven't seen any identification of the star in the center, but it is said to be a star that can not be observed from Earth without a telescope - no big deal. BUT, look at all the galaxies!! The background is FULL of galaxies! Most of those objects in the image are galaxies! When this telescope gets turned loose for real work this late spring it's going to be a show!
