Harris explains that with equal opportunity we don't end up end the same place because we started at different places.

EQUITY gets everyone to the same place by taking everything and redistributing it, with some getting less and others more so we get to the same place.

That's straight up COMMUNISM.

Providing all children with a "good" education isn't the problem. The problem is when they want the same outcomes. That's not possible unless you lower the expectations. And even then you're not guaranteed equal outcomes.

The real problem is leveling the playing field while you allow 'the disadvantaged' to refuse to make themselves better, refuse to make themselves more productive, refuse to make themselves more adaptable or refuse to make themselves smarter, for examples.

I'm not an avid sports fan, but I do recognize a fundamental aspect in all sports -- the incentive to exceed the achievements of those fans admire. If all sports stars were equal, where would the incentive to do better come from? I believe the principle of motivation would be worthless if all members in society were equal. Where would inspiration be seen?

It's only one of the factors affecting the matter of equality. Unless parents are committed to their children's education no amount of programs will make a dent in equal opportunity. The opportunity begins at home, and it's not just about money. If it was then you'll have to explain how financially disadvantaged children have succeeded where others have not.

I agree, good parents help, parents that love and want their children are better parents

it's not all the children's fault if they turned out messed up, parenting plays a role, society plays a role as well

 

They don't want the playing field level. They want it unlevel with shorter people standing on the high ground and taller people standing on the low ground so all are the same playing height.

 

Who cares what Harris thinks. She doesn’t have the power to make the US a communist country. In fact, no one has that power…Checks and Balances. Thank the founding fathers.
