Bernard Condon wrote for The Associated Press 19 March 2018: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the Kushner Cos. bought three apartment buildings in a gentrifying neighborhood of Queens in 2015, most of the tenants were protected by special rules that prevent developers from pushing them out, raising rents and turning a tidy profit. But that's exactly what the company then run by Jared Kushner did, and with remarkable speed. Two years later, it sold all three buildings for $60 million, nearly 50 percent more than it paid. Now a clue has emerged as to how President Donald Trump's son-in-law's firm was able to move so fast: The Kushner Cos. routinely filed false paperwork with the city declaring it had zero rent-regulated tenants in dozens of buildings it owned across the city when, in fact, it had hundreds. Believe nothing you read and only half what you see, Mark Twain I believe. Triggered by something you know nothing about.
Flipping property is legal and millions do it every day. It's how the real estate business works. Buy a house or building, make some improvements and put it back on the market and make a big profit. There are hundreds of flipping houses seminars held every week and even on cable there are programs of flipping houses or buildings. Many just purchase a building or even vacant property and just sit on it and put it back on the market some time later never making any improvements. Completely legal. When does flipping become illegal ?
We cannot punish the son for the sins of the father, but it does seem to be relevant in assessing the situation. Rudi Giuliani's father was also a criminal, and it seems the son learned that behavior.
Bernard Condon wrote for The Associated Press 19 March 2018: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A New York City council member launched an investigation Monday into the Kushner Cos.' routine filing of paperwork falsely claiming zero rent-regulated tenants in its buildings, saying that the deception should have been uncovered long ago because the documents are online for all to see. Councilman Ritchie Torres said the city's buildings department should have spotted the wrong numbers because they were contradicted by tax documents filed with another city agency. "The scandal is not only the deception of Kushner Cos., the scandal is the dysfunction of the city bureaucracy" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ article
We should do that with every person in prison, I think that is a good way to keep us all safe. So what number of blacks and Hispanics do you think should be rounded up then as well?
Do what with every person in prison? PARTIZAN1 mentioned nothing about taking action - just not being surprised that Kushner Jr. is as dishonest as his father (apparently).
