I grew up here and have been robbed at gunpoint twice. Los Angeles does not allow ordinary citizens to carry guns.

Who benefits from these gun laws:

And why do you think things would be different if more people had guns? Seems to me this is a pretty good argument that more guns don’t mean more safety.

Its not the guns; its who is behind the trigger. Los Angeles almost never issues CCWs to ordinary citizens and there are fewer cops. Criminals don't obey gun laws so they have the advantage here. Results speak for themselves.

In order to arrive at this illogical conclusion, you have to completely ignore who has the guns, and what is their intent.

Actually, Los Angeles and the State of California do allow gun ownership, even CCW according to the attorney's link below. Open carry is generally not allowed. In the link, it says

That is not necessarily true. Take a look at recent crime statistics between Houston Texas and Dallas, Texas. In Houston, they are on pace with breaking some violent crime statistics while Dallas crime with murders, armed robberies, etc is down. These are the two largest cities in Texas and are fairly comparable. Both cities have a diverse population and numberous suburban cities surrounding the principle city.

If crime goes up or down, it is not necessarity how many guns are out there, but socioeconomic factors that come into play here.

Criminals obey gun laws and many other laws too. Last time I checked they commit crimes that break some laws, not all of them. Criminals commit crimes because they think they will get away with it. Guns make that a whole lot easier to do.

Question-do you think criminals want to get shot?

How would you stop criminals from getting guns? Even if we stopped selling guns in this country they’d be smuggled in along with the drugs and illegals. Then what?

You mean the guns that come from the US, get smuggled into Mexico and then goes back to the US? Where do you think Mexicans are getting their guns from? Heck, even terrorist groups like Al Qaeda were getting their guns from the US.

Most crimes are opportunity crimes. If a felon wants a gun, he can privately purchase a firearm, use a ghost gun, or a community gun, to commit the deed. Thus, going to Academy or Walmart or anywhere else to purchase said gun would not be in the cards if they are a felon.

If they stopped making guns here that would open up the market to make them someplace else.

So it's better that criminals get their guns here than elsewhere. Got it.

Yup. You are 100% correct. There are way too many guns which makes those kinda of crimes all the more likely. Arming oneself will only make the situation worse.

Right but it’s a lot more expensive to import weapons from overseas vs your next door neighbor. Which means fewer opportunities for crimes to be committed.

That is not accurate, in fact fact my brother is a survivor of a mass shooting, he has his own carry permit, and the jurisdiction of his permit doesn't matter what county in the state of California he is in. Whether he is in LA county, Orange County, San Diego County, or somewhere up north, he is always carrying.

Saying ordinary people in LA aren't allowed to carry a gun is like saying ordinary people aren't allowed to drive a car. It's simply not true

Better question. Do you believe that if, hypothetically, we completely outlawed guns, that gun crimes would stop?

If we grabbed them when outlawed, yes.

If a large percent of the good common citizens carried and started shooting these punk thugs and killing a bunch then you would see the numbers go down.
Right now citizens are just cannon fodder waiting to be victims. Arm them and start taking your streets back.

Better question that anyone who understands the basic idea of policy is would gun crimes decrease, not stop. And the answer is pretty obviously yes.

Until of course a good guy with a gun says the people they shoot are all criminals, regardless if they have committed a crime or not. Lack of accountability and vigilante Justice doesn’t really work.

Open carry is illegal in CA.

Los Angeles rarely issues CCWs to ordinary citizens. "May issue" and opposed to "shall issue" means the sheriff decides who gets one. Only cops, judges, and criminals carry guns here.

Good question. No, criminals prefer unarmed victims fed to them by those supporting gun control

Results speak for themselves. Fewer guns equals more crime here in L.A.

I realize you support this. How far would you go?

Question-do you think armored car security guards should be disarmed?

Out of 10 million people, there are very few CCWs. Before approving a rise in permits, there were fewer than 500. In 2018, 72 were issued. 238 were issued in 2020. Assuming there are about 1000 CCWs by now, what percentage is that?

Even if 10 times more CCWs were issued, 99.9% of ordinary citizens are not permitted to carry allowed to carry a gun. Thank you for correcting my .01% inaccuracy.

Can you post a link verifying that a CCW from another county is valid in Los Angeles?

    Completely disagree.

Criminals don't give a **** about your laws or policy. If they did, they wouldn't own firearms or use them in criminal acts. The ONLY people that comply with laws are law abiding citizens, and those aren't the ones committing crime.

Criminals love the idea of outlawing guns though.

Can you find me many articles about people robbing gun stores? Not burglary, but robbing them?

There is a reason for that.

    How about shooting ranges?

It's pretty common sense that criminal elements are going to target establishments where their victims are LESS prepared to defend themselves. I am strapped about 50% of the time. Im a licensed concealed carry holder. Nobody knows it... but if they have to find out, we are both going to have a bad day and they don't want that anymore than I do.

Well that depends on who "the people" are. Not all lives are equal.

If we are talking about an innocent person killing an assailant with a firearm = win.

If we are talking about a criminal killing a person without a gun = loss

Why are you defining it simply as "people" and completely ignoring the behavior of those killed? You aren't one of those "all lives are precious" non-sense are you?
