This is crazy. https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article241216061.html "Gov. Steve Sisolak’s unprecedented order on nonessential Nevada businesses will shut down 440 licensed casinos, bringing Nevada’s dominant industry to a complete halt and leaving tens of thousands of workers in differing degrees of economic uncertainty.' I would think that a strong case could be made that, as the single largest industry, with regards to the number of people employed, in the state the gaming industry could, in fact, be considered 'ESSENTIAL'...
With all the travel restrictions, the casinos were pretty much dead in the water anyway - probably would have cost them more to stay open.
Your link directs to a 3-day old story about Sacramento. You probably need to edit it I found this link: https://www.reviewjournal.com/busin...ng-for-30-days-following-state-order-1984236/
I really don't know how long Vegas can survive a Total Shutdown. And then, imagine when they re-open. They are going to have to bleed gamblers dry, by setting slot machines to not give up as many big jackpots. Also, many of The Girls and Boys (but mostly Girls) who dance in the shows never have to worry about dieting (to stay lean) because they burn it off every night. Imagine those bodies not working out (and staying in top top shape) every day. Especially, given the fact that most public gyms have closed. A Vegas Shutdown has to be an absolute horror for the thousands of homeless and street performers (who live on handouts and tips). I visit at least 6 times a year and I have already cancelled 2 trips. This is unimaginable.:smh:
Thank you! Not sure how that happened. Here's the link I intended to use: https://www.reviewjournal.com/busin...ng-for-30-days-following-state-order-1984236/
I've been to Las Vegas more times than I care to count. The thought that it would shut down is unthinkable. It's estimated that some $25 million goes through Vegas casinos every single day. If they're shut down for a month that equates to a loss of three quarters of a billion dollars. That's gonna' take a while to recover from...
It really begs the question of "did this anxiety specter get wholly away from Democrats"? I mean, now that it is effectively shutting down their cities and hunting grounds...
Your silly hypothesis, that this was somehow concocted by the left, completely breaks down when you see the same actions across the entire globe. Pitiful post smh.
Oh well. You can't expect everyone to get it. The post didn't say that the virus was "concocted by the left" (have to guess since you didn't specify what you meant by "this") The assertion was that the anxiety that they manufactured clearly was a concoction of the left. And it seems, they and their pockets of supporters are the most effected from their own prescriptions. It seems at some point, appropriate.... The spread of the virus, globally, is also a function of the global citizen mentality of the progressive left who saw dominion over not just their pockets of influence, but the world in general. It seems that their unwillingness to be responsible in this area is also causing a great amount of suffering for those who had no voice in it's adoption. That doesn't seem to gel with their normal public facing propaganda, but it obviously is the factual results from it.
Yes, I understood what you meant. Re-read my post. Counties are shutting down globally which is proof that LV closing casinos isn't a result of a scheme to sow panic by the left. I mean, seriously wtf! You can't possibly believe what you're shoveling here.
Exactly Steve. Imagine that. And that is just LOSSES in Casino Revenue. Now, multiply that by all of the Entertainers and Service Workers, Etc. This is unfathomable. Vegas Economic Losses will be Billions and Billions.
Again, I didn't say that the closings were a "scheme" by the left. I said it was unintended consequences of their zeal. Anyone could have predicted that this would be the result though, so it further points out the myopic nature of the left, who, when challenged, don't mind burning down the house just to advance their ability to govern.
Just curious, but are you suggesting that you have a better plan then? Or are you just wanting to voice the recognition of how deeply this is going to screw over the folks who live there?
Was thinking about that $25 million figure. Could you further describe what exactly you mean in relation to that?
I'm not sure I understand what's confusing about that. Vegas casinos see upwards of $25 million go through their gaming operations every day.
At each casino individually? Or overall? Is that profit, or just the overall amount that goes through the casino/casinos?
Overall. The numbers are actually all over the map. I've seen numbers as low as $630K per day (which, I think, is laughable) to $66 million a day.. Poking around the interwebs, it seems like the $25 million is likely closest to the actual amount And that would be the gross revenue, not the profit...
Thank you. To me, it seems there would be way more than $25 million going through all the casinos in a day. Most of the games only give a house edge of about 2%. At $25 million, that is only $500,000 profit. And that seems awful low for all the casinos combined.
