    FIRST ON FOX: Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert is looking to classify the synthetic opioid fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction (WMD).

    Boebert introduced the Fentanyl is a WMD Act on Monday afternoon, a bill that looks to classify the dangerous opioid as a weapon that could cause widespread death.

    The Colorado Republican said the bill would require the "assistant secretary for the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to treat fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction" which would put the opioid under the purview of several agencies, not just DHS….

    …"This would enable the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Department of Defense to better coordinate their efforts and immediately publish the necessary administrative directive to eliminate the threat posed by this deadly substance," Boebert said in an interview with Fox News Digital.

    "We all know how serious the fentanyl crisis is," she continued. "Fentanyl is the number one cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45, and it’s not slowing down."

    Boebert said fentanyl is "absolutely a weapon of mass destruction" but noted her bill would not target legally prescribed fentanyl, pointing to the toxin botulinum’s WMD classification while still being legally used for Botox treatments….

    …"This would be a similar situation," Boebert said, adding that everyday Americans would agree with the WMD classification based on the "carnage" they are seeing in their communities…

    T    his is absolutely great legislation. I’m glad that Rep. Boebert is doing this. I can only hope that this is a bill that is quickly passed and by huge bipartisan near unanimous margin. This is a deadly killer drug.

    Idk about a “WMD”, but it’s obviously a huge problem and needs to be axed. Drugs are no joke. I’m only in my mid 30’s and I’ve known of numerous peers throughout high school and college that are now dead and gone because of drugs. Usually it was pills mixed with alcohol.

    There is a direct connection between the level of control we have on our souther border and the amount of Fentanyl that enters our country. We used to have a reasonable amount of control on both through the end of 2020 and now have no control there on the number of immigrants or the amount of fentanyl coming in illegally. This is a great 1st step in getting control of a dangerous situation in America

    True. Obama and Biden wipe out high paying manufacturing and energy jobs all across middle America and then import illegal aliens to compete for the remaining jobs and depress wages along with Fentanyl to adopt or kill our remaining young who didn’t move to a big bicoastal city.

    China, cartels and an open border is the bottom line to your question. There is a lot of political motives involved in the border that has allowed fentanyl to explode in America. Unfortunately, when brought up the left shuts it down due to the border.

    Couple of things here.

    If AR15s were crossing the border the way fentanyl is the wall would already be built and democrats would put machine gun turrets spaced every fifty feet at the top.

    Any who questions if condemned prisoners might suffer pain while being executed should not object to the effectiveness and efficiency of fentanyl.

    A lot of people on your side of the fence get pretty snooty towards people who don’t believe in global warming or a rooster thinking it’s a hen. Roosters who believe they’re hens should come with warning signs.

    It dilutes the meaning of WMD. We have a drug seeking culture and foreign suppliers to service them. It is one more facet of asymmetrical warfare.
    I suspect we are seeing vigilantism in the black community. Sacramento county is seeing “indications”.

    AR15s ARE crossing the border --- from north to south. It's American guns that are fueling the Mexican drug cartels. I am all for stopping the flow of both drugs and guns in both directions. Will the US gun manufacturers be happy if they lose customers? What's your guess?

    This might not be the dumbest idea I've ever heard..... although it's coming from one of the dumbest Congresspeople ever ... so obviously somebody is feeding her this stuff (the bill, not the drug.... probably)
