Well, lookie here, Gorsuch is above the very laws he's sworn to uphold and serve.......he's also adjudicated cases involving said law firm. WTF is happening in SCOTUS?

    Conservatism is what is happening

"If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”—David Frum

If voters don’t wake up and eject these people from office this country will eventually hit a point of no return. Between their stacked courts of partisan religious ideologues, outright theft of power through gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics they are making the system where no amount of voting can check their power.

Fixing the SCOTUS-- though Biden may not wish to discuss it, during the campaign-- has got to be one of the top priorities, for his next term. Let's just hope he gets a return of Dem control of the House, and enough of a cushion in the Senate, to be able to suspend the filibuster rule, even if one or two of the Democrats, don't go along with it.

As expected, the culture of corruption, aka conservatives/republicans, are ok when their crooks get caught.

People are going about their lives no matter what the political elites have in mind. Some people need to get over themselves.

They have finally moved on from acting like it isn’t unethical to now just not even caring as long as it’s their side doing it. We are seeing it all around the nation.

When a political party stops being able to justify their positions and just move to win by all means necessary we need to label them what they are.

When a person holds public office, it comes along with responsibilities that do not apply to the common citizen. To avoid undue influence pedalling, compromising an official's objectivity, in carrying out their duties, there are also limitations put on public servants. While no one is denying Gorsuch's right to sell his land-- which he'd been trying to do, unsuccessfully, for four years, prior to his SCOTUS confirmation-- when an offer comes in, a week later, from a law firm which brings numerous cases to the Supreme Court, it is not only Gorsuch's obligation to report that sale, but to recuse himself from every future case, in which that purchaser law firm, is represented. What possible objection, do you have to this measure, which not only serves as a prophylactic against corruption, but also against the appearance of impropriety?

This politico article has been excoriated in the press. Lots of folks have described this as a "hit piece" where Politico is definitely in the wrong here. I suppose that you didn't feel it necessary to research this, just a teensie bit before you launched your full throated bloviation here.

    https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/25/politico-legal-experts-justice-gorsuch-hit-piece/

Turns out Politico did about as little research as did FMJ here.....

just more silly partisan nonsense that no one should be taking seriously. No one has answered my question of what crime has been committed. Its laughable at this point.

The opinions of several legal scholars listed in the DC article asked the same question and didn't find any violation of any current statute.

Stick a fork in it, this thread is officially dead.

On the basis of a right-wing hit piece from a right-wing media outlet ? I'll be happy to wait for a review of this from an impartial 3rd party, if one still exists in this country.

Do you feel individuals or groups with businesses before the court should be able to effectively bribe them? Yes or no?

Those analysts are correct, there is no current statute because the SCOTUS is supposed to be individuals that are beyond reproach and since they are elected for life they would hopefully be able to shed the hold politics have on them.

The founders never expected we would run into what the modern right have become.

Hopefully the trump v Biden 2.0 matchup results in enough votes where both of these justices can be impeached and removed along with congress implementing new ethics rules for the body. Or they remove themselves.

Do you feel like you actually have any evidence of your assertion ? Oh wait, no, you don't. And your Politico post is just more noise, more misinformation thrust on the public stage. Do you feel better?

I think the next Republican administration needs to set up a disinformation board headed by Tucker Carlson to help explain basic facts to them. Since they were so in favor of Biden's disinformation board by a lunatic, I'm sure they won't have a problem with this.

Gorsuch was one of three land owners. It was sold to a man Gorsuch had never met or spoken to. And, all of it was properly recorded on disclosures for years. Nothing came of it because he did nothing wrong.

This reeks of COI (conflict of interest). Now, why is it that COI is held up as a standard for the little people, but not for SC justices? Shouldn't their ethics be above reproach?

Well, it's not surprising that you find nothing wrong with this. Apparently, you'd also find nothing wrong with Tucker heading a government "disinformation" board. The irony couldn't be any thicker. What has RW media propaganda done to the minds of so many of our countrymen?
