    Hate crime legislation isn't there to keep you from calling the gay man you kill a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) as you end his life. It's there because crimes targeting minorities directly reduce the quality of life for everyone in that group in the immediate area of the crime itself. Privileged people who don't check their privilege are doomed to be forever unaware of the need we have for protection from some members of your communities.

    I would agree that NO law is perfect.

    Even so, I think it is time to punish ALL violent crimes more severely in America.
