Winning is banned at more than half of primary school sports days: Pupils compete in teams despite 82% of parents wanting a traditional event

I agree with Stephen Green's (at Instapundit) take:

Modern sport and the cultural aspects it both requires and nurtures — clear and binding rules, fair play, gentlemanly conduct from winners and losers — all trace their roots to England.

Giving up sport means giving up much of what made England English.
Sadly, it may be too late for the English to recover their society from Socialist/Leftist caused disaster. No wonder Trump decided to visit Poland, a nation that's standing firm against Leftist nonsense, first on his trip.

Can you explain to me what is so bad about learning to accomplish something as a team? Because it seems to me that you don't "exactly" develop skills to lead when you're the only one in your team.

Seems to me, that if Trump is able to select better "players" to be in his team, than he wouldn't be stuck with these Russian inquiries and needed to fire people around him. So he is missing skills right there, those kids learn.

What are you accomplishing when you're not allowed to win? Where's the training to become a good winner and to play fair while trying your best to be the best?

So sad that the English have sunk so low.

Does this mean that they won't keep score in professional football matches? They might as well pass tickets out to everybody while they are at it.

When my youngest was playing t-ball, they didn't keep score, but the parents and some of the kids did. Everybody knew who won every game.

It's the essence of Leftism/Socialism: make everybody equal by making everyone miserable.

That isn’t what their claimed survey results actually say (and there’s no way to confirm the whole thing isn’t just made up anyway and I can’t find any primary source for “Families Online”). Lying for money and attention isn’t what makes England (or anywhere) great. There’s absolutely nothing about “leftists” or “socialism” in the article either (and the Daily Mail would be the first to leap on it if there were) so that’s all in your head too.

This is a perfectly valid topic of discussion but it should be based on facts, not lies and rhetoric. Of course, if you don’t actually care about the subject and was just using it to spin out another partisan political rant, there’s nothing more to say.

In primary school. There are rules.

The rules are made by women.
All school rules are made by women because almost no men are teachers.

So one school rule is not fighting and no physical contact with students.
    Because women dig that stuff.

But the first thing that happens to me in the playground is that all the male students rush over and bundle me. And then spend the next 20 minutes all trying to mass squash me.
Bugger. First day. I've broken all the school rules already. I am doomed.

But it turns out, I get great reports. Because rules that are made by women for women, are rapidly ignored the first time women get the chance to hang out with men.
In my class, there are winners.

That said, if I admit to being right wing or public school, they will drum me out. It is a left wing environment and if you value your job, you will be left wing.

I couldn't agree more. I went to my four year old grandson's Sports Day. He is in nursery. Each room had a team. They all took part. No one bothered about the false starts and the length it took some to reach the finishing line. They all had a ball. At the end every child got a winners medal with their team and they all were without question winners.

I'm sure your reply was just killing. But I don't click on links when the person posting them can't be bothered to include a précis of what I'll be seeing. Same goes for vids.

Seems to me most people from Great Britain when interviewed always refer to themselves or their country by saying "The U.K." and not Britain. I know the difference, the latter does not include N.Ireland.

But is not "U.K." the most common reference these days? Also, what is the origin of the famous saying "There will always be an England?" Seems to me they had a reason for making a distinction?

By and large, Americans always felt great favor towards the British, including hearing them speak.

Yeah, that's about how I expect schools to be soon. Lots of neat tongue-in-cheek references too. Good watch.

That's nice. Now they are all unprepared for the real world. Why don't you people rename your agenda and call it what it is "Socialist Boot Camp".

Are you saying that I made the whole thing up and then got the Daily Mail to publish it as fake news? I'm pretty clever, but that sort of diabolical behavior takes a CNN or MSNBC to accomplish.

As for the article not specifically stating anything about leftists or socialists: are you new to politics? When I read about a great English tradition being trashed, of course I draw the conclusion that Leftists and/or Socialists are behind it. Conservatives conserve traditions; Leftists trash traditions.

That paragraph is funny in that at first reading it seems to make sense, but upon further re-reading it's obviously nonsense. You implied that I was lying or incorrect, but provided no proof of your own to back up your claims. Where is your source that proves the article is incorrect, hmm? Se essentially you mouthed platitudes while merrily violating them all.

    Well done, old chap.

When everybody is a winner, winning is meaningless. If all you want is for four-year-olds to romp around having a good time, that's one thing, but calling them winners for being undisciplined mobs is just silly.

At best the survey was really carried out by some minor organisation with a preconceived conclusion, they put out a partisan press release off the back off it and the Mail picked it up verbatim as cheap copy. It's sadly standard tabloid practice over here.

No, I'm an old hand around politics so I know all about your political bigotry and blinkered assumptions. You've already concluded that everything bad (in your opinion) is caused by "leftists" and everything good is caused by "conservatives" and just continue like a dog chasing it's own tail. It doesn't actually mean anything in the real world.

The headline states "Winning is banned at more than half of primary school sports days". It's own content the article only claims that in a "poll" of 300 parents, half said their children's schools has "non-competitive" sports days and it also says some schools have both kinds of events.

Of course, the other evidence is "It's a Daily Mail headline".

So what are you wanting. For a start I am betting the last time you saw a child was yourself. Getting four year olds to act as disciplined as these kids did was really good. They acted co-operatively and with discipline and were proud that they achieved that. Now if that is not what you want them to experience when they grow up, that is the difference between you and me.

Tsk, you only believe you have achieved if you can look down on someone. I cut out the rest of what you said because it was your fantasy and not based on reality.
