with all the crooked politicians and the lobbyist trying to buy votes so the rich can get richer I think we should change how congress votes.

the congress system was a very good system when you had to ride a horse to Washington and make votes but it is very corruptible and now with the internet we don't need someone to goto Washington to vote on things for us each state should have the people vote on what to do with the states votes in congress

what do you guys think should we take the power out of politicians hands and put it in the voters hands or is it impractical? I know with as corrupt as it is that it would probably never change because it would ruin the game for a lot of rich people who take advantage of the current congress system

it's a shame how corrupt it is you see people paying tons of money to run for office that pays diddly squat and lobbyists are so annoying they shouldn't even be allowed to try to buy the people votes from what the people of a state would probably want to what the rich company wants

I think that putting term limits on all political offices is a good idea, whether your local councilperson or the potus.

The one problem with that is that the term limit takes away any responsibility to the voters.

They can't be re-elected so they have no accountability.

I think that congresspeople should only get one term. Special Interests control the election process and so if you're in Congress, you do what the SI's say so that you get their help in the next election. If we limit it to one term, we can prevent reelection from being used as leverage.

It's not the rule of law that is the problem, it's the avoiding thereof. For to long the American people did not care who is in control or what they were doing. Rather cared of themselves and entertainment. We the people are the consequences of our own actions, or lack thereof. We have allowed a nation of leaders so corrupt, that there is no going back. It is in God's hands alone now.

It isn't really as complicated as you guys think. When the House passes a bill and sends it to the Senate, it must also pass the Senate. If it manages to get passed in the Senate as well, then a democrat President can veto it. That's the simple explanation.

It gets a little more complicated when Senate rules require 60-percent to approve stopping debate for a vote (cloture). When neither party has 60-percent, as it is now, then nothing gets passed that is politically sensitive. There was a time when people crossed over often to vote alongside the other party in order to benefit the country.

However, in recent years most politically sensitive votes were split directly down party lines, therefore, we have the appearance of nothing getting done. I would suggest voting out democrat representatives and senators if you really want to get anything done in the future.

Back in 2009 we saw what a democrat majority in congress will do to the American people.
