    Gay sex is a religion?

Funny. Gay sex is real. Gods? Meh, I have seen more gay sex than gods.

that is your opinion and I would speculate that it's based from your support of homosexual activists. In this thread and others there are stories of people who have been able to kick the habit of gay-sex (call them gayoholic if you will) thanks to counseling.

The homosexuals in this thread wish to make this about religion but the counseling doesn't need to be faith based. The proposed bill is about tyranny and it shocks me that the "cradle of liberty" would be pushing for tyrannical rule.

Is sending your child to AA child abuse to you, too? or do you only consider it abuse when people try to stop behaviors you approve of, in their children?

    when in doubt... bash religion

seems to be the LGBT way

But the counseling does not need to just be faith based. A person doesn't need to be overtly religious to understand that gay-sex is abnormal. If a teen thinks they want to try some gay sex, but wants to see a counselor, then it should not be blocked by the state.

I support the state denying parents to use abusive and failed treatments as recognized by medical science on their children

Yeah, that is because it is not real.

AA does not make you not an alcoholic.

That is not reparative therapy. Of course that child could see a therapist but reparative therapy to change his orientation would be abusive.

AA should go away as a court assigned punishment due to the religious aspect, however that religious aspect is very underplayed. It is certainly not the only factor and does not prove that prayer is even a factor in where or not AA works. The only factor that seems to be relevant is if someone sticks to the program or not.

As for pray away the gay that too has been shown not to work and has also been shown to be harmful.
    http://www.hrc.org/resources/the-lies-and-dangers-of-reparative-therapy

So what I'm seeing here is that prayer does not work to cure anything and conversion therapy is harmful thus children should not be subjected to it.

I love this false idea that it's "voluntary".

"My church teaches us that homosexuality is evil...Mom and Dad think homosexuality is evil....if I stay gay, they're going to think I'm evil.....so I'll 'volunteer' to have 'therapy' that will stop me from thinking about having sex with the same gender....so they'll still love me."

Noooooooooooo....that's not coercive at all, is it???

Lets be crystal clear. AA requires no religion. You do NOT have to believe in god to be a member in good standing in AA

Therapy that has been approved by the psychiatric community as beneficial and appropriate.

Forcing abortion on children should be banned world wide. Using words like 'shock therapy" and 'punish' to describe C/R therapy is BS. You don't know what C/R therapy involves but you can describe it? That's laughable.

We know that it is widely condemned by the mental health community and is already illegal in some places for that very reason.

Medical science has long acknowledged the benefit derived from the placebo effect, positive thinking and the healing power of prayer.
For the past 30 years, Harvard scientist Herbert Benson, MD, has conducted his own studies on prayer. He focuses specifically on meditation, the Buddhist form of prayer, to understand how mind affects body. All forms of prayer, he says, evoke a relaxation response that quells stress, quiets the body, and promotes healing.
So it matters not a whit what you believe in. If they believe talking to snakes helps, then it probably will, or will you now deny that science as well.

strange how we see a lesbian couple give hormones to their 11 year old boy to make him into a girl but that's ok

We have cessation programs for smoking, alcohol, narcotics, gambling and others yet the moment you want one for gay-sex we see the homosexuals get all up in arms.

Its child abuse to try to change a child's orientation. It would also be child abuse to force a child into therapy to convince him he is a hippo.

Being gay is not a sickness, not a disease, not a deviation, not unnatural and does not to be cured. Stopping charlatans offering cures for something that needs no cure does not constitute a "War on Children". Numerous studies have shown that conversion therapy at best does not work and at worst is harmful.

Parents do not have absolute say over their children and religion cannot be used as an excuse, unless you think that female genital mutilation should be legal.

    Cool story.

Too bad there is not such thing as gay therapy, as sexual orientation has never been shown as something that can be changed.

I understand that it hits home with you but tyranny is never a good thing. If we support your movement and outlaw help for those who are currently living the gay lifestyle and want to quit, or those who think they want to try some gay sex but need help to overcome it, then the govt could outlaw any treatments including cancer surgery.

No, he was doing what homophobes so often do....trying to compare homosexuality to pedophilia.

    It's a very common tactic.

    - - - Updated - - -

Why do they need a "therapy"....to quit?

Are you suggesting that the government should allow every kind of treatment on children in the name of freedom. How about shock therapy to turn them into republicans? You are not John Wallace shouting "You make take my life.....but you'll never take my freedom!" LOL
