Imagine if the polarization between Liberals and Conservatives became so extreme that they began forming their own factions, fighting a war against each other. There would be a few rogue groups like the Libertarians who aren't as extreme as the Republican faction, but want nothing to do with the Democratic faction, either. Below is my take on how this would play out. Please note that it's all done in humor with a little serious commentary. I just like poking fun at both sides. In my mind, the Democratic faction would take over the west and the east coastline states. Liberals would rule the land between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains, as well as the East Coast to the Appalachian Mountains. They may rule both coastlines, but their power is divided, and they would have to dodge conservative attacks against their supply planes. The Republican faction would rule the flyover states, but would have their power concentrated in one place. The Democrat faction operates on the virtues of tolerance and diversity. Their soldiers aren't allowed to have scary looking guns, and definitely no AR-15's allowed. Faction leader Barack Obama proposed a bill to his chain of command which would promote soldiers who were the weakest, because it was only fair. His sergeants were wary of such a bill and warned that it would hand the victory over to the Republican, but Obama passed it anyway. With his fair army, he would surely win the war against those evil conservatives. In the middle of the country lies the heart of the Republican faction. A massive city made out of scarp metal lies in the middle of Kansas. They have no concrete leadership. It's currently a battle between Rand Paul, Karl Rove, and the Bush Family. Bible thumpers like Rick Santorum, Todd Akin, Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry, have tried to gain control over the faction, but this caused the break off of conservatives know as the Libertarian faction, as they didn't want to be ruled by theocrats who didn't know how the female vagina worked. The Libertarian Faction has no home territory. They're considered traitors in the Republican territory, even though they agree halfway ideology wise. Their real enemy is the liberal elite. The mountains on both sides provide great protection for both factions. Obama had a tower defense system set up next to each mountain range, perfect for firing any missiles on invading conservatives. These towers are known as Obama towers. Hey, if a phone can be named after him, so can missile towers. My take on the outcome is that the conservatives would ultimately win. Their hard-line stance would keep them alive for a very long time. The Liberal army doesn't end up taking too many risks by crossing the mountains. Their most effective attack is flying bomber planes over Republican outposts where they can bomb them while sipping a latte in their comfy cockpit. Because of this, the Republicans built anti air missile launchers which would take down the Obama planes while screaming "Praise Jesus." Eventually, the Democrats would run out of supplies and ammo which was built before the war. Once this runs out, the Republicans mount an all out assault across both mountain ranges. San Francisco, the West Coast stronghold, goes down if flames, along with Eugene, Portland, Seattle, and all the other progressive cities. Same happens with New York, the East Coast stronghold. After the war, the conservatives elect their strongest war hero, Unifier (you're my favorite member), to be the new leader of the Republicans. Obama and his progressive army retreat into the underground, which you've probably never heard of, where he will build up a new army to take on the Republicans generations from now. His first plan is to infiltrate the new Republican schools to recruit for his future attacks. The Libertarians eventually assimilate into the new Republican country. Their victory over the progressives was more important than simple religious differences. So how do you think such a war would play out? turns out the entire ordeal was to promote a theme park, "Civil War in America: 21st Century" and a hotel chain based in Vegas called "Sleep with the Enemy". reality tv shows follow. We know that when liberals and conservatives get together for a night sparks will fly. Lets see what happens tonight when we bring in a wild card... a centrist!
The conservatives would probably win. If this forum is any indication of the non-existent gun smarts of my leftist brothers and sisters, we are (*)(*)(*)(*)ed.
You're a Libertarian and you think this is the difference between the Libertarians and the Republicans?
IF the libs controlled both coasts, you have to realize that they would also control the seas, all US imports, and all foreign diplomacy, including the support of the UN. There is no doubt the world would back the democratic army against the conservatives, and without supply lines and material supplies outside of guns, ammo and farmland, the conservatives would be starved out and bombed out in no time, very similar to the attrition practiced across the south at the end of the Civil war. And before you think that Texas, Lousiana and Alabama give them the Gulf, all the Liberal Navy would have to do is set up a blockade in the Florida Keys and close off any imports or exports from reaching the Mississippi. I wouldn't for a second doubt the zeal and maniacal radicalism of an even angrier right wing, but strategically, the left wouldn't have to fight hard, only strategically and smart. It would be a cold war that the right could never win.
I know there's more differences, but in the grand scheme of things, religion is one of the big divides between Libertarians and Republicans.
The conservatives. We got the guns and the know how. Not only that but we also have the police and military on our side. Be thankful, liberals, that conservatives aren't the bloodthirsty monsters you portray them as.
