Conservative host Rush Limbaugh on Monday suggested that sexual conduct policies stifled romance because sometimes “no means yes if you know how to spot it.”

Last week, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights ended its Title IX investigation of Ohio State University when the school agreed to its strengthen sexual assault policies, The Washington Post reported. OSU said it would expand prevention training, and increase awareness of anti-discrimination laws.

For Limbaugh, however, “agreeing” to consent “takes all the romance out of everything,” he said on his Monday show.

“Seduction used to be an art,” he opined. “Now, of course, it’s prudish, and it’s predatory, it’s bad.”

The conservative talker noted that the new OSU rules described consent as “the act of knowingly, actively and voluntarily agreeing explicitly to engage in sexual activity.”

“Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time. You have to be sober, not coerced,” he continued, reading from the guidelines. “The absence of ‘no’ does not mean ‘yes.’ It must be asked every step of the way. It cannot be implied or assumed even in the context of a relationship.”

“How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that no means yes if you know how to spot it?” Limbaugh asked his male listeners. “I’m probably — let me tell you something, in this modern [world], that is simply, that’s not tolerated. People aren’t even going to try to understand that one.”

“It used to be a cliché, it used to be part of the advice young boys were given,” he added.

Needless to say, you can add this to the pile of "clues" as to why Limbaugh is on his FOURTH marriage in as many years, the strict Non-Disclosure Agreements his three ex-wives have in their divorce settlements, his Sandra Fluke "sl*t" comment, and the other numerous things he's said about women over the years.

Throw in the "rumor" of the "suitcase full of Viagra" and the "boys' weekend" trip to the Dominican Republic and why it was so believable.

He's not implying rape, he's talking about the "hard to get" attitude women naturally have when men try to win them over. I think Rush is an idiot, but this is being spun. He is a fading political entity, though.

Somehow....I do not see an ugly fat man as a useful judge concerning women, sex, attraction, or pretty much anything concerning courtship and romance.

    Agreed.

Communication between people is often very complex and people do not often say exactly what they mean especially when complex emotions such as attraction enter into the mix.

On the other hand rather than wandering off into this area he might have focused on the stupidity of such policies which are popping up in many universities nation wide.

Often these policies are a reflection of very bad statistics and emotional appeal to do something to stop assault which is described as an " epidemic " with little or no evidence or even a definition of what an " epidemic " is.

Some universities have had this backfire on them as they realize that a college administration is not an appropriate group to deal with such issues as crime. That is what law enforcement is for.

And don't forget Rush's expertise on "defending traditional marriage". :)

The issue I have with the law is the "sober" edict. If both people are not sober and initially consent, the woman can later claim rape and her non-sober state can be used to incriminate him ! That's BS.

Quote the ENTIRE thing, Grok....won't help.

BTW, given Rush's attitude at being able to "spot" when "no means yes".....would you let him date your sister?

Yeah, I don't listen to Limbaugh, but don't trust anything this OP posts from this source about what the man actually says in context. If anyone cares to post the whole transcript or even the relevant parts of it in context, that would be different, but I'm sure we won't be getting that anytime soon.

As far as the actual thread topic? Yes, no does mean yes in many sexual situations, but any experienced adult knows that full well already. The statement is completely uncontroversial. The best way to test this is to do what I've done many times. When a woman stops my sexual advances, simply withdraw all attention in a neutral way and start to leave, "it's late so I'll be going" with a warm smile. Watch how many times you are getting laid near instantly after that. I've even been in the car and "called back" on several occasions. One feminist lie narrative that needs to stop is that women in the heat of passion (or men for that matter) are completely logical, rational creatures who always say and do what they mean. We surely are not.

Oh really? Provide is, and let us decide, which your 'comic book" source never does.

You prefer madeup hysteria to the actual whole truth, because the Left CANNOT DISCUSS REAL ISSUES, only the madeup ones of division and victimhood, per usual.

Rush Limbaugh and Rachel Maddow are entertainers, not politicians. They hold no power and we thank god that both sides of that spectrum are held to only TV and radio shows...and not public office.

I don't know how it goes in today's ridiculously politically correct day, but back in my day, playing hard to get was a definite ploy used successfully by women. It was a definite tool used by women in their quest to have a Saturday night date.

These days it appears women just lay down and do it. There's no romance. There's no guess work.

As always, Rush is right. He might not understand today's lack of discretion and/or morals any better than I do.

I think back to the "Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific" commercial. If a guy were to do that these days, the woman would slap him across the planet.

I must disagree with you here...NO always means NO, hell that is the reason we have a freakin' word in the first place. There are times when a woman will hint in subtle ways that she is interested in sexual activity...but when she says NO there is nothing to interpret.

Fine. When Rush Limbaugh says something stupid, I'll give it the same consideration as when Lindsey Lohan does. :)

    - - - Updated - - -

So in one post, you claim women "these days" BOTH "don't mean no when they say no"...and that they are sluts.

I understand why you are a LImbaugh fan.

What about when Rachel Maddow says something stupid? Seems like you're very one sided. Do you prefer news or entertainment? Because that's what Limbaugh and Maddow are- ratings.

I do not even "catch Rush" on occasion. It's not required to expose your nonstop Liespeak nonsense.

RUSH: "At Ohio State University, to avoid being guilty of 'sexual assault' or 'sexual violence,' you and your partner now apparently have to agree on the reason WHY you are making out or having sex. It's not enough to agree to DO it, you have to agree on WHY: there has to be agreement 'regarding the who, what, where, when, why, and how this sexual activity will take place.'"

We've already begun this business of reprogramming the way we raise men. (laughing) Snerdley thinks that I'm satirizing this. Snerdley thinks I'm doing a brilliant parody. I'm not. This is for real.

"There used to be a joke that women need a reason to have sex, while men only need a place. Does this policy reflect that juvenile mindset? Such a requirement baffles some women in the real world: a female member of the US Commission on Civil Rights told me, 'I am still trying to wrap my mind around the idea of any two intimates in the world agreeing as to "why."'"

This comes from the website College Insurrection, by the way. Oh, yeah. Unless they're running a great parody. I've seen it too many places. Agreeing on the "why" takes all the romance out of everything, takes all the seduction. Seduction used to be an art. Now of course it's brutish and it's predatory and it's bad.

Here's what consent is at Ohio State. After you and your partner decide that you're gonna make out or have sex, you agree to do it, then you have to agree on why. "Consent is the act of knowingly, actively and voluntarily agreeing explicitly to engage in sexual activity. Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time."

"You have to be sober, not coerced, imaginative, enthusiastic, creative, wanted, informed, mutual, honest, verbal. The absence of 'no' does not mean 'yes.' It must be asked every step of the way. It cannot be implied or assumed, even in the context of a relationship. Circumstances in which a person CANNOT legally give consent: (No matter what he or she might verbalize): The person is severely intoxicated or unconscious as a result of alcohol or drugs. The person is physically or developmentally disabled. The victim is under the age 13 or is elderly. So as long as the girl is thirteen years old, she can give consent for sex, provided it's creative and enthusiastic."

"Consent must be freely given, can be withdrawn at any time, and the absence of 'no' does not mean 'yes.'" How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that "no" means "yes" if you know how to spot it? Let me tell you something. In this modern world, that is simply not tolerated. People aren't even gonna try to understand that one. I mean, it used to be said it was a cliche. It used to be part of the advice young boys were given.

See, that's what we gotta change. We have got to reprogram the way we raise men. Why do you think permission every step of the way, clearly spelling out "why"... are all of these not lawsuits just waiting to happen if even one of these steps is not taken?

Now , specify the "problem" with what he said.

No, saying "no" means "no" , nothing else.

If a woman says, "No, don't call me", it means "no, don't call me".

If a man pursues a woman after she has said no he does so at his own risk.

Hard to get is NOT the same as a "no".

Not saying "yes" immediately is not a green light for sex.

    - - - Updated - - -

Then men should be very careful about having sex with an inebriated woman...it is NOT ALL the woman's responsibility.
