http://www.news.com.au/national/pol...an-all-male-club/story-fns0jze1-1227248282211 I can't understand the thought process that went into planning this. I have no problem with there being men only clubs (there are also women only clubs). But to hold an International Women's Day event at a Men Only Club is just such a stupid thing to do. It's basically a, "(*)(*)(*)(*) you women, learn your place," kind of thing to do, like when Prime Minister Tony Abbott (leader of the Liberal Party at the Federal level....... the LNP is a state version of the Liberal Party) made himself the Minister for Women after he's made so many sexist comments, both as leader of the Liberal Party, and then as Prime Minister, about women. It's like this party loves being the butt of all jokes.
No, I don't think it's an oops at all. This is par for the course when it comes to these idiots. I'm willing to bet that the male leaders of the party were all, "Where to hold it? Hey, how about in our favourite club?" without it ever once crossing their 1950's minds that it's a Men's Only Club.
Oh, so this was, what, a sexist jab to try and put women in their place by hosting an event at a location that they wouldn't be allowed to enter?
Whether it was a conscious decision or not it does come across as a sexist jab. The Club is going to amend their rules for that event to allow, it seems, women to attend but that just highlights that women are going to be entering a No Women Allowed venue to attend an event for them. This is just how little thought the LNP put into things.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3IaKVmkXuk John Oliver sums up the stupidity of Tony Abbott (PM of Australia) rather nicely.
