It looks like the GOP is at it again, this time they want to bump the disabled and elderly off of Medicaid. Louisiana has a hole in their budget they need to cut due to tax cuts (actually letting tax rates expire). The GOP managed to create their own budget crises by putting tax cuts ahead of people. This is really egregious.

If there is not enough money for everyone then boot able bodied people off first

 

And any non citizens.

Money that gets spent on them could be used here to fill the gap.

 

All the democrsts who were against the tax cuts can voluntarily pay more taxes to make up the difference, but things like that never seem to happen.

A special session of the State Legislature, called specifically to deal with a budget crisis caused by a lack of tax revenue, failed to do so, and legislators adjourned on Monday. No one is sure what will happen next. If legislators can’t agree on tax increases, cuts to education and medical care will likely follow.

The targets would include “health care programs that cover medically fragile children and the developmentally disabled, as well as the popular Taylor Opportunity Program for Students that provides tuition-covering grants for thousands of college students,” as Elizabeth Crisp of The Advocate, the Baton Rouge newspaper, explained.

Louisiana’s former governor, Bobby Jindal, deserves much of the blame. A Republican wunderkind when elected at age 36 in 2008, he cut income taxes and roughly doubled the size of corporate tax breaks. By the end of his two terms, businesses were able to use those breaks to avoid paying about 80 percent of the taxes they would have owed under the official corporate rate.

At first, Jindal spun a tale about how the tax cuts would lead to an economic boom — but they didn’t, just as they didn’t in Kansas. Instead, Louisiana's state revenue plunged.

 

Your partisan spin is misleading. They aren't "bumping the disabled and elderly off of Medicaid", they're considering cuts and reductions in funding for certain programs. It also sounds like they could leave Medicaid alone and make cuts to the state's college scholarship program instead -- but announcing that folks might have to pay for their own college wouldn't make for such dramatic headlines.

 

All they have to do is cut taxes.....Problem solved! No?....Its the answer to anything and everything on GOP world!.....

Over half are naturalized citizens who are fully elligible to collect Medicaid

That 40 million block of deadbeats is the first place to begin trimming the rolls

Any money spent on a Non Citizen came out of the citizens pot...which of course is supposed to be financing things citizens use. Then you see where we have shortfalls elsewhere.

These people live in a bubble. 100+ Billion dollars per year is what illegal immigration costs our Nation, and these clueless people seem to think that money doesn't come from anything that will impact the citizenry.

It's ALL coming from somewhere, which leaves us short.....roads...medical care...whatever. You aren't just pulling 100+ billion out of a magic dimension.

18.5 Billion of it, per year, is right there paying for their healthcare. Someones getting shorted on something they needed or wanted to give this to non citizens.
