    Bojangles.
    Friday October 20, 2023.
    $24.21
At the pay window: "The lady in the car just ahead of you has paid for your food."

That same thing happened to me previously I think about 4 - 5 months ago at
    the same Bojangles.

That's about $50.00 to me from I guess total strangers.

Ah, there are moments of human kindness everywhere throughout America each
    and every day.

Ultimately in the end it is Love and Kindness and Compassion that wins the
    War For The World.

    YES of course . . . .

. . . it was LOVE that fought and won World War 2 that saved God's people from
the horrors of German Nazism and Italian Fascism and Japanese Imperialism --

    HOWEVER . . .

    WAR cannot fix the world.

WAR only has the power to stop evil.

To STOP evil from STOPPING the proclamation of the gospel.

The gospel is what fixes the world:

    The power of the:
    * Cross (defeated Sin so we can now be saved from Sin)
    * Resurrection (defeated Death so now we can be saved from Death and never die)
    * Ascension (the power of "I go to My Father")
    * Exaltation (the power of NOW being seated at the right hand of God Almighty
who is a Warrior "The LORD is a Warrior" Exodus 15:3)

THAT ↑ is what fixes the world.

Yes indeed. It is LOVE that ultimately wins The War For The World.

"Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is
    Love." 1 Cor. 13:13

The objective has to be winning peace in this world.

Jesus didn't ever preach war. War is the most certain sign of failure.

Jesus is a Warrior. The principle behind war is FORCE.

At the end of human history the Lord Jesus said He would
command His powerful angels to go out and separate
the wicked from the righteous and then THROW --

-- Jesus used that word THROW

    -- and THROW is WAR-FORCE

    THROW . . .
the wicked into the blazing furnace which is a figure of speech,
that is, a metaphor for the agony of experiencing John 3:16's
    perish.

It is a condition where the Holy Spirit totally . .TOTALLY . . .
withdraws from the human individual and then that individual's
fallen corrupt sinful human nature begins the process of totally
    destroying them.

Your fallen sinful human nature, without the restraining influence
of the Holy Spirit, is a monster that will turn on you and eat you
    alive - metaphorically speaking.

But there is a way out of that and here it is:

Prayer this simple prayer from the heart:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your
forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the
dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart
and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.
    In Your Name. Amen."

You are suggesting that by the words of Jesus concerning what GOD will do, humans have a right to act as would God - sorting the believers from the nonbelievers in this one religion and murdering the nonbelievers. NOTHING Jesus said could be construed as directing his followers to take on the role of God in punishing nonbelievers.

That is absolutely NOT the message Jesus brought. He was very clear in his direction to his followers.

In fact, you're preaching the original sin of mankind, identified in Genesis and involving Adam seeing himself as worthy of acting in GOD's role.

My question is whether you have paid it forward. That is the reason people do those kindnesses...so they continue.

I would say thats generally accurate. But its also worth noting Jesus did go on the offensive in at least one case (and perhaps multiple times when it came to that case)- the merchants and money changers using the worship at the temple for profit. In one case going so far as to beat them out of it using a whip that He had fashioned Himself. Prolly not 'war' by any meaningful metric, but definitely an instance of Jesus engaging in offensive violence.

    In the OP you say:
"Yes indeed. It is LOVE that ultimately wins The War For The World."

You're still promoting "love" as a tactic of war.

And, I just don't believe Jesus saw his message of love as a "tactic to win the war".

Beyond that, your posts on tribalism and separation directly promote division, not love or peace.

It was LOVE that fought and won World War 2 and saved the
world from German Nazism and Italian Fascism and Japanese
Imperialism. Your disgusting "Christian" pacifism only breeds
    MORE war, death and destruction.

My statement that Jesus Wins The War For The World
means that the entire world will eventually be Christianized
through successful gospel preaching and that is all it means.

Btw, Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is THE reality and you
liberals will be taught that thoroughly by that fierce general General Time as
    the decades unfold.

By the way, the Lord Jesus is a Warrior.
    How so?
He commands His powerful angels to round up His enemies
and "throw" -- Jesus uses that word "throw" -- them into the
blazing furnace where there will be weeping (self-pity) and
gnashing (rage and anger) of teeth.

"40“As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will
be at the end of the age. 41The Son of Man will send out his
angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that
causes sin and all who do evil.
    42They will **throw them into
he blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing
of teeth. 43Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the
ingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear."
    Matthew 13: 40-43

    And **THAT
    is the principle of WAR.

The objective of the USA is to support religious freedom, NOT to create a Christians world - or even a "Christian" USA.

We declared war, entering WWII only after America was attacked.

That is a statement of what God will do. It's not a directive to mankind.

    We are not God.

In Matthew 25:31-end Jesus pointed out man's duty to search out those in prison, in poverty, in hospitals and render them the aid they need. Our duty is to serve. The consequences of failure is spelled out that those who follow him (the Christians of the day) will be thrown in hell along with Satan.

That is not a directive for Christians to search out who among them is not contributing in that way, and killing them. It is an explanation of man's duty and God's punishment for failure.

What God will do is NOT a directive for mankind. As Genesis makes clear, our original sin is to think that mankind has the knowledge of good and evil that is reserved for God alone. Humans love to think that they have that level of knowledge, but that is the very root of evil.

In 1964 the US decided to 'help' the Southern part of Vietnam.

As with our 'help' to many countries up to and including Ukraine all it did was increase the carnage.

In 1964 Congress was shown a photograph of one bullet stuck in some sheet metal on the USS Maddox
Congress agreed that brutal action deserved retaliation which ended up killing 3 million Vietnamese and
some Laotians and Cambodians. I wonder what swayed our judgement?

Maybe it's the money the weapons makers get when we go somewhere and kill.

    This is a real possibility.

The USA is the largest arms seller in the world. It is a gigantic industry with almost no bounds.

The majority of the population of Gaza is rated as "food insecure" - not a good arms sales opportunity.

So, that war is Hamas rockets that can't be aimed vs. the top of the line strike fighters, bombs and other modern weapons of Israel.

I'm not totally sure how that one bullet got escalated up to a full blown war, but I was in the US when it happened.

I think the path to destruction was paved with media lies,

I remember the news reporting that 'targets' in Vietnam were 'hammered' by US Airforce Thunderchief jets,
so I guess if they were just 'targets' then at least nobody was getting killed.

The media leads people into doing things without fully understanding what is happening.

War, the kind of war I am saying was/is good, is World War 2 that saved the
world from German Nazism and Italian Fascism.

What you are saying is TOTALLY DIFFERENT -- see the bolded red up there.

I do NOT want any part in any Christians killing anybody other than in a JUSTIFIED
    war to protect America.

World War 2 was NOT a secular operation.
    (1) It was fought basically between Christian nations -
Christians killing other Christians (Germany, Italy, the UK, America, etc)
    (2) The Allies had Christian chaplins everywhere holding Christian Church Services.

    1. Not even YOU believe that's why the war was fought. You've said so above.

    2. Some of those who were dying wanted chaplains. That does NOT make it a war over religion.

    All . . . ALL . . wars are fought over religion.
The notion that there are two separate categories
    (1) the Religious
    and
    (2) the Secular
is a large load of fresh laid horse manure.

For example, the religion of The Left is The Religion Of Secular Humanism
and the name of their god is Mankind, whom they worship and serve and
de facto pray to with the fervency and fanaticism of West Virginia snake handlers.

There is NOT one human being who ever lived that did not have a god and a religion.

There are large numbers that love to play "little word games" and play "magic words"
and deny that they are religious and deny that they have a god --
but when you listen to what they say, you will always find their true religion and you can
    identify their god.

I'd like to think religion is a WHOLE LOT BETTER than being the fundamental basis for all wars.

Also, I LIKE America, and by definition of our constitution, our government IS secular.

Our founders knew the problems of trying to mix government and religion.

I am appalled by the mainstream religions backing both sides in WW1 and
killing each other's parishioners, and gradually the main stream religions
in Britain and in Germany have been dying out as a result.

In WW2 and since the problems have been more connected with nihilism,
though main stream religion has been taking the credit as well.

G W Bush commenting on the proposed war in Iraq, said he listened
less to his earthly father than to his heavenly father, and that he "speaks
    with God every day"

Mainstream religion doesn't seem to be the answer, but nihilism is, if
    possible, even worse.

    Good post.

However, nihilism holds that nothing in the world has a real existence(!), denying all moral principles and holding that life is meaningless.

There certainly are philosophical bases that include moral principles and meaningful existence without holding a belief in supernatural beings or having important ceremonies of worship for members to attend.
