Yeah, only essential shopping/healthcare. Still, if that's what it takes. I'm in a higher risk group so better safe than sorry.

Very high new daily cases per 100,000 pop.

France’s hospitals are just about overwhelmed.

ICU patients have surpassed their May peak.

    Absolutely correct, gnoib.

Bars, restaurants, gyms, cinemas will be closed until the end of November. Schools, kindergardens, learning institutions, hairdressers remain open. Big companies are urged to make part of their staff working from home again. Supermarkets & grocery stores have been open all the time. Germany never had a hard lockdown like Italy or Spain.

I thought Trump is the cause of the virus spreading. How is it happening in other countries? Biden and Democrats say we are worse than everyone.

oh that’s right. More lies. Ho hum. What’s new.

We don't always wear masks. The way of dealing with masks in France was quite clumsy.

So in France we have to fill in a form if we want to go out. In fact there are 3 different forms depending on what you need to do. And you need a fresh form each time, you can't re-use the forms. And the forms are different from the forms we used during the Spring lockdown, although it's much the same thing.
There are 5 million civil servants in France whose only duty is to design forms, so they really enjoyed this. They've been working on the new forms since the last forms.
There are 42 different pension schemes in France, and they each have their own set of forms.
The people who run the rubbish tips recently restricted the hours they're open, and now you have to show ID and also proof of residence. Only 2 people per car, and no children. No other forms though. They missed that one. This will help people to recycle stuff.
    Meanwhile people are being beheaded.......

BTW no, a greek orthodox priest was shot today. We don't know yet the identity of the attack, but considering Al qaeda call to attack church.

And respecting law was always a thing set only for regular french people, not for our new overlord : the die-versity.

In therein lies the problem with lockdowns. They are always done on short-notice with no time to effectively prepare while leaving open some businesses that people will flood into looking for toilet paper, pasta and the like.

IMO for a lockdown to work, people need to be given ample notice to stockpile all their essentials so they don't all have to crowd into stores during the lockdown. England is about to make this same mistake announcing a lockdown today that starts on Monday. 1 sunday gives nobody time to prepare.

I'm in good shape. I always have a spare for everything, and the little shop is a couple of minutes away, and then there's Amazon and Toupargel.

We're not sure yet. Usually I have less doubts. How many time I spoke with leftists who tried their usal lessons of morale when I deduced early it was a radicalized muslim, to that in the end it's proved to be one.

What make me doubt is that it's not the way of operating of jihadist. Usually they try to kill more people until be shot, they don't flee like this guy.

However the jihadist hypothesis remain one of the most likely.

How much does France have to endure before they conclude they have a big Muslim problem on their hands? What happens when 51% of the population of Marseilles wants Sharia Law?

People are waking up slowly I suppose. The reaction of some "moderates" to the attacks is in the end more important to awaken people than the attacks themselves.

But yes, being blind to a problem isn't the first time in France. France took a long time to take seriously the threat of Hitler and when we did, it was too late.

Do you think that Islam is the issue, or is the poverty of these immigrant/refugee groups that have formed large cliques in housing commissions a factor? Perhaps have no skills to get themselves out of poverty?

And I don't disagree that it's a problem. In Germany a lot of my moderate friends and left friends admit the refugee issue there is complete disaster. it's not necessarily related to Islam but very similar issues of social strife, lack of integration and underreported rape of German women by immigrant gangs. They don't want to return home either

I think it's a large part of the problem yes.

Another issue have been the blind faith that France and other countries put in their values, believing it to be universal when they're not.

Furthermore the naive dichotomy of the left oppressed/victims doesn't help either.

One of the last issue have been the failure of the war on drugs. The french judicial system that don't deserve the name of system has been overwhelmed and violent criminals are under punished, both because of an ideological laxism of some judges and also because of a lack of prison.

The french state cover large aspect of life, from school, university, transport, healthcare socialcare. It has assured french people a comfortable life. Hovever, I think we're witnessing what I would call a "transversal failure".
Basically, at the origin, the state assure mainly one function : security, justice and military affair.
When the country and so the state become prosper, then it can at that moment get another function however if the state decline it would be almost impossible for the state to get ridd off a mission.

For instance, if the state start to controle security, education and healthcare.
_ A health crisis such a huge epidemic would cause a state crisis. Because the health issue is huge, the state as to spend huge amount of money in it, however it would fall short of money for education and security.
_ On a similar manner a sudden rise of crimes would cause the state to fail in also education and healthcare.
_ Lastly an economic crisis would cause a failure of healthcare, security and education.

Over the years, my country have developped a huge nanny state, and I tend to believe we're witnessing such transversal failure in France right now.
I'm not a minarchist, however the problem of state transversal failure seems quite important me on those days.

Yes, Islam is the problem, what Muslim nation should we be emulating? And why is it Islam is rife with poverty?

It is insanity to think advanced nations like France and Germany can benefit in any way from importing millions of these inbred throwbacks.

Thanks for the generous reply.I think that it's very important for each country to do what's best for it and not necessarily model after other countries. For example, Sweden does quite well with a socialist setup but Swedes aren't the French, nor are they German, etc. Africans aren't Arabs and Arabs aren't Europeans.

I'm guessing that a lot of Islam came to France because of their pre-empire days? Close immigrant labour from Africa? The Islamic connection with Spain?

I'm on the left but I'm concerned with unfettered immigration without testing if the immigrants are simulating and happy. My philosophy is establish the initial wave of immigrants first make sure they're happy and then see about taking in more. Africans in particular seem to take a while to adjust. It's just a fact.

As for religion, my belief is that it's in the consciousness of the beholder. Moderate Muslims don't even see the jihad or misogynism in the scripture, just as Christians don't adhere to the extremity in the First testament.

interesting analysis about how the state will struggle to balance all the different expectations and responsibilities. I don't know if I fully agree because if you look at the US it's health system isn't much better either. Well, it will work if you're wealthy..

Is throwing around those kind of terms helpful? Many refugees are peaceful and simply looking for a place not to die, but it only takes a few angry single men...

In terms of immigration, I think we should be helping these countries more, rather than stripping them of their best talent
