    It’s amazing that someone in that party shows any sort of sense. I’m seriously impressed. If this guy ever runs for president he may be a democrat I could throw my support behind.

    If Dems want to rebuild a national party, Joe Manchin is the base on which to build. He is a sensible moderate combination of principle and compromise. If Dems wanted a more intelligent reasoned political discourse, they would elevate Joe Manchin.

    My fondest wish is that the salty liberal backlash is so extreme that they do drive Manchin from the party entirely. Let's make McConnell, for all his flaws, majority leader again.

    The best value of a D president is how fiscally responsible R Congress Critters become. Throw in a few blue dog Ds, and BAM; we have a more fiscally responsible Congress.

    I warned dems when they sent activists to Manchins home and when they followed Sinema into the bathroom that their communist thug tactics were not going to help them.

    Manchin is downright reasonable, here he is this morning.

    I wonder if the mainstream media is going to praise him for being a 'maverick' now. Or is that phrase only reserved for when Republicans go against their party's plans?

    A man of principles.

    I doubt the Democrats would have really been able to compromise much for one man and one vote. (they have a hard enough time compromising when it's lots of people)

    This "build back better" bill of course has a nice name to it, but what's actually in that bill? (hint: Most of those funds aren't allocated to building roads and bridges. Democrats don't really seem to be that interested in roads and bridges)

    Manchin was basically saying that all the adjustments to the bill have been nothing more than a shell game, citing the CBO's figures on the cost. While being deferential to Biden, he was clear on his reasoning.

    Unless we cure inflation and the $29 trillion debt over the Christmas break, I don't see anyway for him to reverse himself.

    I’ve said for some time that the Dems should deal with Manchin in the same way that the Reps have with Cheney…yes, it would mean being one short in the Senate, but they effectively are anyway…
