And the good news.....we are expecting many of them to return as soon as they can. What say ye?

Almost a third of 6,000 federal prisoners scheduled to be freed between Friday and Tuesday, part of a push to reduce America's soaring incarceration rate, will immediately be turned over to U.S. immigration authorities for deportation proceedings. While this weekend will be a happy occasion for the thousands of inmates who are U.S. citizens and will reunite with their families, many of the roughly 1,780 foreign inmates to be put on the deportation track will leave family members behind in the United States.

Despite Obama administration assurances that the transfer of ex-convicts into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a routine occurrence, immigrant advocates worry they may not receive due process as they leave. Most of the foreign inmates are Mexicans, according ICE.

Final deportation orders are in effect for 763 of the foreign inmates, who could be deported within days. The rest will be transferred to immigrant detention centers to await orders. The latest mass release, one of the largest in U.S. history, is a result of retroactive reductions to mandatory minimum sentence guidelines for certain non-violent drug offenses.....snip~

I say good deal, the war on drugs is stupid and was costing us too much to house all these prisoners

Look for drug violence to go up...

... Obama will find some loophole...

    ... not to deport them.

Judges granted the most petitions from inmates who were prosecuted in Texas' western judicial district, 1,048 in all.

Ricardo Hinojosa, a judge in Texas and ex-vice chair of the sentencing commission, said last year at a public hearing that many of the deportees "will be tempted to come back, and maybe quicker," because many have families in the United States.

As a result, Hinojosa said at the hearing, "We will see them as illegal reentry cases, to some extent, sooner than one would normally see them.".....snip~ same link.

    Solved that problem, huh?

yes, we should release all prisoners on non-violent prohibition related charges, we can't afford to imprison them and it's stupid too imprison them

the majority of these folks are not illegals, don't get sidetracked, legal or illegal they still cost the tax payers just as much to sit in prison....

Well I agree they do cost the taxpayers sitting in prison. So to those on death row and with Violent crimes. Which I don't think we should be killing them. When they can be used for the country and a chance at a life somewhere else. Just not here anymore.

But then I always was for talking with Mexico about turning off the Tap of the Migrations that cut across their country. Even to the point of training them on how to Secure their Southern Border. Whether they wanted to learn or not.

The prisons are over-crowded. Those who are deported can try and start a new life in Mexico.

Yeah they wont be gone for any long period of time. Not unless they can be dropped off at Mexico's Southern Border. Then it might take them a week or so get back up here.
