Actually, the math in the OP is very interesting. Given the much higher murder rate by black males (very few black women are killers) and given the fact that blacks are 13% of the population and whites are about 60% of the population (excluding hispanics), the numbers reveal an interesting reverse bias. The much larger potential target group (whites) are only killed twice as often by blacks as the much smaller target group (blacks) are killed by whites. Given that both populations almost always kill their own (black on black and white on white killings are about 10 out of 11 such killings by blacks and whites) the ratio should actually be about 4:1 (mirroring 60:13) but it is only about 2:1. This would suggest a slight predisposition for whites to kill the admittedly more dangerous blacks than the basic numbers warrant.
The OP is the Original Post in a thread. The math and numbers I kept very basic for the mathematically challenged. If you are actually good at math, feel free to take out your calculator and generate the exact numbers based on the steps I laid out in my post. Given that several numbers are close estimates rather than exact data, generating a specific number doesn't mean that much while having a general ratio is quite revealing.
