No one going to lay a glove on her because she is a black democrat and deliver the votes through an "approved" list. Politicians running for any California office must contribute to her campaign to get on the list. This list is mailed to every black and democrat household in the district, down ticket races included. You contribute to those on her list, and it is verified. And as an incumbents you vote how she wants you to vote.

BTW, she was given an exemption to not live in her district. She lives in a mostly white upper middle class area.

So much to unpack... I waited a day until somebody's ritalin kicked in... Also, this is currently the only Chauvin trial thread on the home page, so it's prediction time, since the basic trial is now over (Closing arguments don't matter much legally)

    My 2 cents

    1. In order to convict Chauvin of second-degree manslaughter, prosecutors will need to show beyond a reasonable doubt that he was "culpably negligent" and took an "unreasonable risk" with Floyd's life when he restrained him and that his actions put Floyd at risk of death or great harm. - Well, yeah... this seems like a lock and the safety net conviction. However, a lot of people won't be happy if this is the only guilty.

    2. For a conviction of second-degree unintentional murder, the state's prosecutors will have to show beyond a reasonable doubt that Chauvin caused Floyd's death while assaulting him - Seems pretty clear here, although I always thought any murder charge had to have intent, and I don't see that here.... I sort of laugh at the phrase "unintentional murder" myself, but if that is the way the law reads, guilty

    3. Third-degree murder requires prosecutors to prove that someone caused the death of another "by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life." - I don't think they'll get that one, as this one does seem to be tied to some sort of intent, which certainly wasn't proven.

I'm calling 2 out of 3 guilty here...

Then she should be in her own district and not in another state inciting riots that will not impact her constituents. She should be getting her in constituents to burn down their city in peaceful protest and leave other cities to their own devises!

She should be arrested for inciting violence at the least and perhaps insurrection.

And know Ms. Waters you were not there as "Auntie Maxine" my aunts never told me to engage in violence and confrontation with the police.

Maxine, ever the race hustling racist. She won't even live in her own district... Talk about sell outs.

Calling for a peaceful protest = insurrection.

Blatantly calling for violence = Social Justice

What a ****ed up country we live in.

Blame the MSM for this. If they had a modicum of decency we wouldn’t be having conversations about fake news. Journalism died in 08. The day Obama was elected the MSM sold themselves out to the Democrat party. Then it got extreme in 2016 and hasn’t stopped being totally ****ed up. Just because they were so embarrassed they are purposely destroying us.

Maxine Waters incited rioting on Saturday night, in a city that was none of her business. Early Sunday, rioters were shooting at National Guard. Any connection?

Well a national guardsman was hospitalized after a drive by shooter opened fire into a group of 3 guardsmen protecting businesses in Minneapolis last night. So the mindless radical DNC base heard Maxine's message loud and clear and they're wasting zero time doing as she instructed. They're definitely being more confrontational now.

Where are the liberals? Where is their full throated defense of this woman who is actively fomenting insurrection in our nation? And when the verdict comes back and Chauvin might be acquitted, is her rhetoric now enough to federally charge her with insurrection and be censured and removed from the HOR?

    Why would anybody "defend" her?:bored:

Also, as far as "removed from the HOR"...

How do you expect that to happen when a 2/3 vote is required?

Gosh... I see folks defend Maxine daily on these forums. You have. You endorse her policies, you were cool when she lashed out in the committee rooms, all the above. If, as you say, democrats wouldn't defend her, why do you think it would be hard to get 2/3s of the house to boot her?

If she lived in her district she'd be forced to confront this:

Great rep they've got in Mad Max - a real champion of the poor and downtrodden...

The judge in the case just said the comments were abhorrent and she violated her oath of office might be grounds for an appeal...................what will she say now.

If Majorie Taylor Green went to Kenosha and demanded an "innocent, innocent, innocent" verdict for Sir Kyle of House Ritten, or else the right wing extremists would be "more confrontational", the lefties heads would explode like Chernobyl.

But they just shrug it off when it's Auntie Maxine, because they're colossal hypocrites who love their double standards.

There's literally no *constitutional* way a guilty verdict wont be appealed at this point. Obviously a leftist appeals bench could just ignore everything that's happened but the city paying out tens of millions prior to the trial and now an influential Congresswoman coercing the jury with threats of violence... There's just no way to ensure he's getting a fair trial. It must either be acquittal or vacate. The mob cannot run our courts or no justice will ever be served.

"The judge in Derek Chauvin's murder trial in the death of George Floyd criticized recent comments by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and said her words could be grounds for the defense to appeal a verdict."

Judge may have no choice but to toss a guilty verdict! If not now, on appeal.

Should the verdict go against Chauvin, she and her comments may have given him a source of an appeal.

They certainly have lots of points and let's include the prosecution refusing to grant use immunity the guy who was in the car so he couldn't testify.
