I read through a few posts here on a daily basis and I'm amazed at the hatred between republicans and democrats..conservatives and liberals..religious factions and atheists..
What ever happened to just being an American and doing what's best for our country and for the good of the people despite of what YOU may think..?
our government and society have become so complex with no leader anyone can agree upon..endless bashing of others and everyone seems to have the answers but talk is cheap and nothing gets solved..
So here are a few options..
eradicate the federal government and make each state a country..I kind of like that notion..
fight a war amongst each other and once the dust settles see who won and suppress the losers militarily..
or split the country in half and if you don't like how one half runs the country then you can move to the other half, so in other words there would be two U.S capitals run separately..
hatred runs deep and I'd love to hear of other opinions on how to solve it because I don't see any signs of us Americans getting along in the many decades ahead..maybe it's time we focus on what's going on here then with what's going on in the rest of the world before the U.S. empire collapses which it will by my prediction sometime around 2050 give or take several years..
    peace..

Shouldn't we finish the last civil war, first?

Americans have been at each other's figurative (and sometimes, literal) throats for our collective history. I wouldn't be too worried about another civil war, most people are more concerned with whats happening on Jersey Shore this week.

Maybe the easiest thing to do would be to stay away from political forums. I seriously doubt you'll ever see one where people sit around and sing kumbaya.

(IOW, it's not the real world, darlin... relax ;) )

It does seem like civil war is inevitable. The left has now fully embraced socialism and wants to "fundamentally transform America" like Obama said during the 2008 campaign. There simply is no way to compromise with these people... not when the rest of us simply want the Constitution to become the standard again. When one group wants to force productive people to pay for their freebies, the other group doesn't, where's the compromise supposed to come from? The differences are irreconcilable.

Splitting the country sounds like a good idea, but it would only be a matter of time before one side wanted to go to war against the other for more land and power. Still, it may give a few generations of relative peace. Having each state be its own country most likely wouldn't work, also. Each one would have to compete for resources and having so many currencies and borders would prove to be a nightmare.

And yet we've had exactly that situation going on with capitalism, laborers paying for the freebies of the rich, the whole time. So I think you're being a little pessimistic about everyone's ability to tolerate that.

ugg!!! I hate that frigging song and yeah I'm beginning to think I don't fit into the crap "I know it all and that your just some kind of idiot who don't know chit" discussions here..someones always getting put down for their thoughts but I guess that's what makes us tick..I'm guilty of it as well..so let's end it once and for all..your shotgun against mine..hehe!

maybe my point is peoples dislike towards one another because of their beliefs and it's my way or the highway attitude..
I have many, many personal friends with different opinions but we all get along just fine..

Extremism is the new cool. Being moderate and accepting is no longer chic. Better to rip out the eyes of someone you disagree with than attempt some dialog. It's called being sophisticated and civilized.....what?

Yeah, we all have many personal friends and business acquaintances and bosses and family members of differing political views and we all get along fine, too.

In my case, it's probably because I LET IT ALL OUT here. None of my close friends or family are into politics, so we don't discuss it. They know (w/o a doubt) what my political views are though, so there's really nothing to talk about! LOL, just took a weekend trip w/3 women... 2 cons, 1 lib, 1 indy. We did discuss politics several times (after a few glasses of wine) and I've never laughed so much in my life. Even my lib friend said she had fun because she thought we were so over-the-top about Obama and found that funny as hell! (she's married to a GM UAW who got his $7K bonus the weekend we were traveling... and LOVES Barack!)

IMO, most Internet Forum Political Warriors rarely participate in politics outside the boards. Last year, there was one gal who promised to post live from OWS someplace, but she kinda faded off into the sunset. Wonder what happened to her???

Sorry to go on and on, but it's a thought-provoking topic. I think you oughta stick around and kick some ass and take some names... then log off and go enjoy the real world where hate's not nearly as apparent as it is on the 'net. :bonk:

Are you kidding me? America is too spoiled and lazy to have a civil war. The Internet just allows the two extremes to find each other and attack each other. If you go out in the real world outside of the sketchy parts, it is very fun and calm.

When it comes to all of the American wars, no war outnumbers the amount of dead produced by our last civil war. It was the most costly war in our history. I'd steer away from such sentiments.

How much longer will that comfort last, akphidelt? With your calculations, nothing ever matters. In my opinion, America is going to take a hit. That's why Obama is turning into an authoritarian schizo.

No "liberal" has ever done more to undermine liberty.

We just took one of the biggest hits in the history of America, and what a surprise, we are all still alive on the Internet arguing about how bad America is.

What you are saying here is just Internet nut job crazy talk. You would be laughed at if you brought this to real America.

You like to bring out those terms. Obama has shredded the bill of rights and we talk about it everyday out in the real world.

Your mistake is thinking that people with internet access live in caves. Nah, Obama doesn't pay for everyone...yet.

Glad I could find this for you. It's right out there in the real world, from a progressive.

There is a book called The Fiery Trial, by Eric Foner. It is non fiction history that covers the issue of slavery between 1820-1860.

What struck me as startlingly similar, is the type of divide slavery caused, and the type of divide oil/environmentalism causes now.

People will be tempted to blow off environmentalism as no where near as volatile as slavery, and IMO, that is a gross underestimation.

Abolishing slavery had the potential to cause monumental economic impact to the economies and primary industries in slave states. Going green has the potential to cause monumental economic impact to oil companies, car manufacturers, and any industry that uses oil products

Abolitionists in 1820 were viewed as radicals by conservatives, and today, anti oil environmentalists are portrayed as radicals by conservatives.

In 1820, even as public sentiment first began to move towards abolition, the predictions of economic collapse, if it was abolished, were used by the pro slavery lobby. Today, even as public sentiment moves towards ending fossil fuel consumption, the predictions of economic collapse, if it would be abolished, are used by the pro oil lobby.

By 1850, slave states and non slave states exhibited a growing willingness to go to war over the issue. Today, the US has already CLEARLY demonstrated it's willingness to go to war over oil.

If disunity continues, oil/environmentalism most certainly carries the potency to create the speark that lights the fire.

How crazy will conservative oil producing states, and Texas go if the government makes states go green, or half of them go green alone. You could have the green states and oil states. Green states will chide oild states for polluting, and oils states will want them to stay out of thier business.

It's not the issue.....it's the same old economic regimes, mixed with righteous morality, and states rights.

Call me crazy if you want

Trust me, you are a minority in the real world. Majority of American's do not even know what the Bill of Rights is. Like I said, there is very few people in America who care enough to start a Civil War.

I'm not advocating a civil war and I agree that Americans don't pay attention anyways. Just considering if there was a Greece situation here.

They wouldn't fight over the consitution, because in spite of what the right would call the left's assault on it...nobody is really assaulting it.

There can't be a Greece situation here. We have two entirely different economic systems. The only way to create a Greece like situations is if our politicians create themselves... which based on the past two years of Tea Party type politics, I guess it is a possibility, lol.

Your boy assassinated a foreign leader..and didn't bother with congress. That's even illegal on the international scale, but congrats. You support these false "liberty" wars..because you're blind. That garbage is all CIA/western stirred buffoonery.

Think harder why Obama had the most funding and most sparkling campaign in history. Because he could convince liberal morons to bow to him.

BTW, I'm a libertarian, meaning left of state-worshipping anti-liberals like american progressives.

No civil war will be necessary because conservatives are on a mission to take back control of this great country and begin the healing process. The only thing unclear about the mission is whose name will be on the GOP ballot.

    Doesn't matter... Anybody but Obama
