Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell made the following promise when he would not recall the Senate to discuss safety measures after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton:
“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is not calling the Senate back to Washington for an emergency session to address recent mass shootings, but gun control measures will be on the table when Congress reconvenes in September, he said in an interview with Louisville radio station WHAS Thursday.”

Does anyone know what progress has been made on this promise?

That's what I thought, a government incapable of looking for answers on this issue.

It isn't something government can fix. We have a culture problem. You can't legislate a better culture.

McConnell just had his obstructionist rug pulled out from under him

A civil action may well have more impact than legislation

Posted a thread on this and unsurprisingly the response was “it is all Australia’s fault”

He wouldn't even need to discuss it, if he doesn't want to. The legislation is drafted, passed by the House and ready in the Senate. Just bring it up to vote. It will pass. But even though it would save lives, it would cost McConnell the money he gets from the NRA. So it's not going to happen.
