Hello everyone, First time poster here, I wrote this article few days ago and posted it on my blog, but I decided to copy&paste it here to make sure that I'm not "advertising" my blog or anything of that sort. Note: This article is not intended to insult anyone (Except for the media), and please keep into considerations that English is my 3rd language. intermediacy Living in a heavily politic-centric country (Holy Land) makes it impossible for me to ignore news and politics. Because every time I try to block those out, a renewed war or a new revolution would once again, be the hot topic. Everyone would start their conversations with questions like Did you hear what happened in this and that? and they would start throwing numbers and percentiles of how many people are opposed to the regime of a certain country at you, and even though most of the facts-pitchers are simply pedestrian and frankly, ignorant, you cant deny that they are somewhat informed and updated at least on the recent headlines and bold titles. I sometimes think to myself that most of the people who watch the news are doing it not out of curiosity to understand their surroundings- both politically and socially- but rather, to break the ice at the next social gathering, but thats irrelevant at this time and besides the main purpose of this article. The main purpose of this article is: Medias so-obvious bias (Read: Corruption) in the GOP Primaries. I, have been increasingly interested in the United States politics and therefore this is the first time that Im watching the Republican Debates. Youre probably wondering, Why the hell would I be reading this newbies article? and maybe, rightfully so. But I can assure you that my take on this is neither deeply political nor overly analytic, but merely observational and objective. I just finished watching the latest Republican Debate which took place in Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where the eight republican candidates (Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, Huntsman, Paul, Perry, Romney and Santorum) participated under a CBS News covering. Let me tell you, I was blown away with disgust by how little time Ron Paul had- But really, was I? Well, maybe at first, but my repugnance was quickly resolved, because anyone who thinks about it for a few minutes will realize that it doesnt take a genius to figure out why a US Network wouldnt let Paul comment on a debate that was primarily focused on foreign policy. The answer is painfully obvious: CBS News (And similarly previous channels that aired other recent debates) agenda does not go hand by hand with Pauls. Of the 80 minutes debate, each candidate should speak about ten minutes- Youd think. Ron Paul spoke for exactly 90 seconds in the entire debate (And Im being a few seconds generous here). Even with that horrifically little time, Paul was managing to win the debate according to the CBS News own poll published on their website, with well over 22,000 voters voting in favor of Paul (Second was speaker Gingrich who was hardly passing the 12,000 mark). Few minutes later, CBS News shut down the poll. It gets worst: Paul has also won almost every single debate in the GOP Primaries on polls published by the airing networks; just last week Paul won the CNBC poll and they didnt even bother to mention it on the news as they would have (And have done) had any other candidate won the poll. And lets not even get into FOX News honest mistake. For a country that preaches about their freedom and democracy, I find this both fascinating and laughable. To be clear, this article is not about Paul specifically, whether you are his most fanatic fan or worst enemy is irrelevant, this is about the faux news and corrupt networks and media that has a huge influence on who the next president of the United States is by simply channeling their questions one way or the other, I realize that this might sound overly dramatic, but thats only because it really is. And It doesnt end here: if they can pick and choose the Americans president (and make no mistake, they can), then just think about how much the Media can influence the countrys present and future by mentally numbing their citizens and leading them to think in a certain way about certain issues and specific groups of people. Sadly, this type of manipulation is not limited to the United State, corporations and powerful networks all over the world have been (And still are) controlling the peoples destinies as well as their kids by only showing half-truths- which for some reason is thought to be morally accepted nowadays- or even with blatant lies. Why you ask? Because they can get away with it. And as long as the people are quiet and do nothing about it, they always will. Neither you, nor I should tolerate this corruption and unscrupulousness because the simple truth of the matter is that manipulating people into voting one way or the other by suppressing a candidate is unjustifiably wrong. And if you cant see this, then you, my friend, are delusional. You dont need Occupy Wall Street, what you (and the world) need is Occupy Media.
Occupy Media, huh? I'm not sure if that was a serious proposition or not but I think you're really on to something there. That would be pretty interesting.
To the OP. Welcome. Make yourself comfortable in these forums. Please, ask your friends to come over. We need more Dr. Paul supporters here...
CBS made it clear that the questions were rationed out according to poll rankings. It seems to be the formula in all the debates, with some variation. It's a Catch -22 situation for the candidates. How can one advance to get more exposure without getting some exposure? Ron Paul has been marginalized beyond the others to a large degree and there is a particular bias in the media against him. What they are doing is nothing more than attempting to shape the election. This past week Ron Paul was only one point out of first place in the Bloomberg Iowa poll. There is a debate tomorrow night in Iowa and we should see him get more time. If not, then it's time for real outrage over his treatment. Here's the info on the next debate. It looks like it won't be televised, but you can watch it online.
