I've been on this forum for some time now, and while I've met some interesting and wonderful people, I still can't seem to manage finding others here who share my political views. Has anyone had this problem? Or, does anyone know of something such as a website where one can find like minded people based on specific viewpoints?
I would have thought every political view was covered, here. What's the nature of yours, if I may ask?
Well, here is a brief summary in the form of a list: I support: -Death Penalty -LGBT Rights -Censorship of Certain forms of Hate Speech -Torture of Terrorists ,Criminals,Dissidents and Enemy Combatants -Domestic Surveillance -Pro Choice Stance -Nuclear Weapons Do you oppose: -"Freedom of Speech" -"Freedom of Religion" -Racism -Communism -Sexism -Open Borders -The concept of more than two Genders
It would bore the hell out of me quite frankly. I do not seek people who agree with me. I seek people who come up with interesting arguments whether I agree with them or not. Why I bide time here looking for hat, I do not know why.
Seems plenty of political POV's are well represented. It's likely been touched on, but discussions held by those all essentially holding the same POV or ideology, tend to get boring quick. That is, unless your purpose is to start a movement, or something.
Somewhat, I'd like to start a movement and if I got the chance I'd take it, but I can settle for at least being around others who think like me. It's true discussions of same-minded people can become boring. I suppose I'm mainly doing this out of a need for a sense of belonging and community.
I've personally found at least like 5, maybe 10 members I'd consider holding a POV/Ideology very similar to my own. Didn't take much effort at all really.... If any. We interact as such, & I'm sure they, as I, have learned, & taught. ****, you could start a movement here too. So long as you stay within the TOS I suppose. Sorry, just seems a non-issue to me. I wish you luck in your quest.
I understand then, I've done something similar. Testing for weaknesses. But to answer your question, I'm not open to opposing arguments because I don't care much for mental opposition. Also most of my political ideals are opinion based, and I've rarely if ever changed my opinion on anything. I only read them occasionally to test how strong rationale of the opposing side is.
You know, a psych-eval in the joint with your POV listed here, would get you a Sociopath label. Just saying.
Thank you! I appreciate that. Your lucky to have found others like you. And you're right Just_a_Citizen, I could try to start a movement here as well. I just need to find a place, online or physically, where there are people who will listen.
Ok. A friend of mine's dad is a managing partner at an international law firm. He told me he always prepares his important cases by taking the opposing side's position and arguing it before a mock jury system they use before he steps into a courtroom to represent his clients. It is a good idea.
Actually, I practiced similarly in my criminal activities in the past. It actually helped me avoid legal problems more often than not.
That is interesting. How were you tested if you don't mind me asking? I've always been somewhat confused as to the difference between the two though.
It does and it gives him total command of the facts of the case wherever a trial goes. He doesn't represent slip and fall people or criminals. He represents people in cases like IBM v. Microsoft scale litigation that are massively complex commercial cases.
