So, things got out of control past couple of years during Spring Break, - rioting, vandalism, violence and even shootings, so the city is understandably imposing all kinds of measures to discourage people from coming. They have curfews starting at 8PM, they are removing tables sidewalk restaurants, they impose massive parking fees, they close parking garages and......they will impose bag searches. And its that bag search which I find strange, because I don't know if its even legal, and secondly I wonder what they are looking for. Florida has new permit less carry law, so even if they find guns (over 100 guns were confiscated last year), what are they going to do about it when anyone is permitted to carry. Are they going to run a background check on everyone who has a gun? Wouldn't that harass law abiding gun owners? Or........will the beach towns be declared "Gun Free Zones"? Its seems they are pro-gun when it suits them, and anti-gun when it doesn't.

Also, I read NY governor is ordering the NY National Guard to patrol the subway system to discourage crime in the BY subway system.

After three consecutive years of spring break violence, Miami Beach officials are implementing monthlong security measures aimed at curbing the chaos, including parking restrictions for non-residents and closing sidewalk cafes on busy weekends. The city has warned visitors to expect curfews, bag searches at the beach, early beach closures, DUI checkpoints, and arrests for drug possession and violence.

Whoa , wait a minute , I thought the more people carrying firearms the safer the venue. And now they are going to have DeSanctimoniuos's Stadtpolizei
checking papers ( remember, these measures are for "visitors" ) so they can do bag searches and have checkpoints.

Al ist klar , herr commissar ?

Yep, papers, checkpoints, bag-searches, curfews......welcome to sunny Florida.

They were interviewing some foreign tourists and they say there are more police than people, and that they don't know what to do with their rental cars when the city closes the parking garages. The garages close at 8PM, and they'll tow your car after that, and the towing fee is over $500.00.

I get it that they have to do something about the rampant crime we saw last year, but why such short notice? They could have announced this months ago, so people could have changed their plans, but this notice was issues this week, and we are already into the Sprint Break time period.

So true, that's why the states with the strictest gun laws have no gun related crime, California and New York having the most stringent anti gun legislation where gun crime is now unheard of.
Maybe they copied the UK which has an almost total ban on gun ownership.
    https://www.intelligencefusion.co.uk/insights/resources/article/has-gun-crime-increased-in-the-uk/
But of course if they can't get guns they turn to knives.
    https://www.city-journal.org/article/rising-knife-attacks-in-the-u-k
And even if you can't get guns or knives they turn to cars as their weapon of choice, even coining the phrase "VAW attack"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle-ramming_attack
No matter how many laws are passed the f**ksticks will find a weapon to use.
