Yes it does. This came to mind. Parenthood (The Movie) “Well, it depends on the man. I had a man around. He used to wake me up every morning by flicking lit cigarettes at my head "Hey, *******, get up and make me breakfast." You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, or drive a car. Hell, you need a license to catch a fish! But they'll let any butt-reaming ******* be a father.”
Giving a child a gun cannot be child neglect, they treated him like an adult. Guns are dangerous even in the hand of adults. Four kids have been killed and there is no excusion or justification for a behavior that ended in killing innocent children.
That is one thing you don't do: Treat children as adults. One cannot put that kind of responsibility on a child. And as you say.....adults are not all that responsible Or "grown up) eitehr at times. It is apparent that there were NO ADULTS in that situation and look at the results.
What about this: The drinking age should be lower than the age to buy or own a gun. Am I alone thinking it's crazy to let children fight in wars but not allow them to have a beer?
I think 18 should be across the board age of majority 1) vote 2) enlist 3) adult court 4) marry 5) buy any legal firearm 6) enter into contract 7) drink/buy booze or smokes
... outside the USA. In Germany for instance, if you passed a rather complicated test in theory (automobile technology, legal aspects of driving, all street signs, safety, and First Aid) and on the streets, you are allowed to drive at 17 with an adult at your side. Getting a licence costs about 3.000 Euro and takes normally two or three months of driving lessons and (very, very boring) theory lessons. But your right with 16 if they know how to drive and how to give First Aid.
