Militia Mobilizes to Block Arrest of 77-Year-Old Michigan Barber Who Reopened
The Michigan Militia says the police will not be allowed to arrest 77-year-old Owosso, Mich., barber, Karl Manke, who has defied Governor Whitmer's orders that all non-essential businesses stay closed. Friday night, Michigan State Police delivered a health protection order from Michigan A
General Dana Nessel's office ordering that Manke close his doors.

    Exactly.

And, if the Local Sheriff won't act, bring in the Mich.St. Police.

Has This Barber started a GoFundMe Page, yet?

He should. Why waste the National Publicity?

I was wondering why that Texas woman's gofundme wasn't taken down. IIRC campaigns for people charged with crimes aren't allowed.

Civil disobedience can also be used by the right.

Please try. Escalate the situation. I welcome it.

Obstructing an officer is the discharge of duty when said duty is immoral is the right thing to do. These militia are better protectors of the people than the bootstraps they oppose.

Shouldn't be used at all. Laws are a part of civilization and our Constitution provides us numerous mechanisms to change and challenge laws we don't like.

Our laws supported slavery and Jim Crow.

Civil disobedience is called for when politicians force policies on people meant to harm them for political gain. Stay at home orders are not laws. Laws are made by congress not governors.

When the law becomes lawless tyrants, it's time to push back and stand up.

LOL...tell that to Rosa Parks, MLK and a shitvton of others throughout history that has used civil disobedience as a mechanism for change.

The Constitution is only a piece of paper, and while fine in concept that concept has been shat upon for the last 100+ years by the ruling elite.

Too bad it says "lawful authority".

Please tell me the law that allows the government to arrest people for running a business.

The average American commits several crimes a day without knowing it. There are more laws on the books that you can read in a lifetime, so this big powerful government and abuse of power you support, will eventually turn against you. Is there anything you care enough about to stand up for?

"But officer! You can't arrest me for selling weed. I am just running a business!"

The government has the authorization to determine what qualifies as a legal business. Even a barbershop is an illegal business if it does have the proper authorization and licensing.

While that is a wonderful attempt at deflection IIRC was both Republicans and Democrats policies. Both were wrong, and I am all for disposing of both parties.

Tyranny is tyranny, and I don't really care from which of your authoritarian parties it is derived.

One more reason I said the U.S. should never have been "shutdown".

This. (Bolded, especially.) I've never seen anything as likely to push this country to the brink of civil war as the current political abuse of power, and all in an attempt to gain political power and/or defeat our duly elected President.

What an interesting time we are living in. Hopefully common sense will prevail, but power and revenge are intoxicating for some people.
