Like I said, it's pretty uncommon. I've never done so yet the meme lumps us all in one group to stereotype. I dont even see that in my rural town where probably 80% of adults own guns.

 

I'd be more concerned about criminals concealed carrying, I guess I'm just funny like that. I dont feel threatened by legal open or concealed carry. In Florida, open carry is only legal when going to or from camping hunting, hiking and fishing. I just tote my .22 pellet gun when fishing, no need to waste ammo or invite a visit from cops or game wardens.

I don't think any of them look like idiots except the guy without a shirt on. That's totally uncalled for. As for the others, I wonder what kind of neighborhoods they live in. Why does one need a rifle to go grocery shopping?

 

Been around guns and have owned guns my entire adult life. Hunter and trap shooter.

But I also spent 9 years documenting crime scenes - and I know the odds of guns being accidentally fired or
used against family members as opposed to being fired preventing a crime. Unless you are in a war zone, carrying
a weapon is a gamble with less than even odds. Carrying them around a grocery store with small children for no real reason is just
an invite to trouble.

In 9 years, I didn't documented one instance where a gun was used to stop an intruder - In that same time, I documented
8 instances of husbands shooting wives, a dozen suicide by gun and I documented two instances where siblings
accidentally shot each other , and one where the a family dog was shot by a teen. While I'm not against the private ownership
of guns, I have no illusions about the possible negative aspects of their ownership.

That's the thing I have trouble understanding. How do you tell the difference between some idiot who thinks he needs a rifle to go pick up his Ramen noodles and the next mass shooter?

 

I think you're missing the point. These are the same people who won't wear a mask because they have god to protect them.

 

You can't have an irrational fear of guns. They are extremely dangerous. You can have an irrational fear of geraniums or the colour blue but fear of guns is completely rational.
