Do they conduct referendums with the entire population?
and how about with the former USSR states are they included as well.

 

Of course Russians want the soviet times back. USSR had 300 million people, modern Russia has 150 million. USSR used to be the world's 2nd largest economy after the US, modern Russia barely makes it into the top ten. USSR was 5 million square metres larger than Russia, plus they had warzaw pact countries as allies. Modern Russia is much smaller and much fewer friends.

In short, the USSR was really big, but now Russia is small and insignificant.

 

But then modern Russia doesn't have the equivalent of a $20tr-and-counting national debt. Deju vu alert!!

 

The debt crisis is overblown. All the US has to do is to cut back some spending. It's only a problem because of american laziness and unwillingness to face the fact that they have to cut some things. Americans can fix it at any time, it's not really a big problem. And by big I mean on the same magnitude as when Russia lost hegemony over eastern europe, lost half its population, and declined from 2nd biggest economy to somewhere below 10th place. Those are big problems. the US debt is nothing compared to that.

 

How can it cut back on spending when it's fighting a war in Iraq, one in Syria (albeit half-hearted! ), one in Afghanistan, and now it seems to be hell-bent on starting a world war. I mean all that takes lotsa dollars y'know. Maybe they could put the world war on the back burner for a while?

 

Because those conflicts aren't really that expensive. Most US spending is on welfare stuff, and that's where cuts can be made without weakening the US's international position. The US can of course cut military spending as well, but I'm just saying that they don't have to. They can, if they want, easily afford to wage even more wars.

 

Watch Bitter Lake and find out how much that cost the US in materiel, the building of infrastructures and their re-building every time they were bombed into rubble, plus the breath-taking levels of corruption by the locals. And that's not to mention young lives lost or destroyed.

US can not cut the welfare expenses, they have already a very bad social security system compared to Europe, for example.

The USSR was one of the world's largest failures. It remains a prime example why communism hurts everyone involved. Ghost cities, total government control...it's a recipe for failure. The world was saddened by all of those people suffering from the USSR. The world now embraces countries like Estonia and Ukraine as places for freedom.

With the US military bases all over the world, it's likely that Russia will be liberated and brought to Western ways.

My friend, I have nothing but respect for the Russian people. I know they are suffering and I know given their extreme poverty, their 3rd world salary rates, and their corrupt government, that they need liberation. The world hears their tears. The United States and Western nations have a responsibility to the people of this world. Trust me, the Russians will be free.
