Time magazine's "Most Important Man in the Middle East" flees palace when 100,000 protestors surround it. A protest by at least 100,000 Egyptians outside the presidential palace in Cairo turned violent on Tuesday as tensions grew over Islamist President Mohammed Morsis seizure of nearly unrestricted powers and a draft constitution hurriedly adopted by his allies. Crowds around the capital and in the coastal city of Alexandria were still swelling several hours after nightfall. The large turnout signaled sustained momentum for the opposition, which brought out at least 200,000 protesters to Cairos Tahrir Square a week ago and a comparable number on Friday. They are demanding the Morsi rescind decrees that placed him above judicial oversight. In a brief outburst, police fired tear gas to stop protesters approaching the palace in the capitals Heliopolis district. Morsi was in the palace conducting business as usual while the protesters gathered outside. But he left for home through a back door when the crowds grew bigger, according to a presidential official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters. That nut job must think of himself as the next Pharaoh of Egypt and our President nut job supports him.
Yup ! And that's why the Press is not covering the Arab Winter in Egypt ! They need to kick that mother-(*)(*)(*)(*)ing Islamo Brotherhood scumbag Morsi all the way to the bottom of the Nile. Then we can send over Obama, and they can kick his scumbag ass too, as apparently we are sheep that have been castrated.
Read the draft of their new constitution.. Its largely secular.. The people have to vote on it.. and Morsi's measure was temporary.. The ultraconservatives are not happy. Soo why not find out who is who before going off the deep end?
Once the Egyptians get a big fat load of the Muslim Brotherhood/Taliban, they'll be in a civil war too.
WTF. More stupidity all over again. Show me where Morsi respects the law ? Let me guess .... its only a "temporary" disregard for the law in Margot-speak .....
Why don't you read it and tell us all about what it "says". Then you can tell us why all the rioters who are objecting to Morsi's actions have no claim to be upset ? Then you can tell us how everything will be just peachy keen !!!
I am not sure.. it appears to me to be a largely secular document .. I would guess the the ultraconservatives are not too happy.. and the ultra liberals aren't happy either.
No, Morsi is the EGYPTIAN'S BOY in Cairo! And as the Egyptians find him more and more unsatisfactory, you may notice there are no crowds shouting hatred at the USA! They are stuck with THEIR OWN choices, and the USA is NOT in the middle creating massive blowback for the future, as we have done all too often. Notice, NO US soldiers dead. NO massive spending there! This kind of foreign policy is going to IMPOVERISH our Military contractors!
Of course the basic principles are Sharia law.. They are 99% Muslim. But you have alot of preconceived misinformation about Sharia law.
Once again, you are in a thread with no clue as to what is going on, trying to give advice to others to "do this. read that." Well, phuck that. This is about Morsi's actions. About the corruption of the Parliament as rigged by the Muslim Brotherhood. It is not about a document. It is about the actions of Morsi which contravene what many Egyptians thought that the law was. Now, if Americans could only get the same balls to drive the lying, Constitution-trashing, ********er Obama out of 1600 Pennsylvania.
Egypt can't remain in limbo.. They have to move forward.. finish the constitution and ratify it by a vote. I am just not nearly as concerned about the MB as you are. .. but they will not satisfy the ultra liberals or the ultra conservatives.
So why are they protesting in the streets ? Or are they all just "ultra" nutcases, standing in the way of "progress" ? The proposed Constitution is based on Sharia Law. Not the most radical versions, but most certainly non-secular.
So, you would have us believe that a "largely secular" constitution set up a country governed by sharia religious law?
Yes............ with some modifications. There are several schools of Islamic law.. I can't think of a single country that follows "pure" Sharia law. Can you?
