It is a Jewish state with a Muslim minority which may vote and participate in politics, seems fair to me, much unlike Iran ;)

    Why doesnt it matter?

By the way, why are Americans so concerned about Israel? Such sentiment is much less common in europe. You seem to want to fight for israel until your last breath, or everyone else's, youll even call a fellow american a traitor over matter.

Is it sour grapes over 9/11? Come on, that was years ago. No need to get all het up over it. It was only a few thousand murdered after all, normally you take such foreign casualties in your stride. Lets move on from it..everyone has taken losses in their time...its just life and death.

I have to laugh when you speak for all Muslims.

Muslims that I know say that Jesus was too pure to have suffered such a cruel and humiliating death.. and that Judas was crucified in his stead.

But like so many of the OT prophets taught, they don't believe that God is appeased by Blood sacrifice..

Its different and not a source of conflict for rational people.

No, it isn't a jewish State. Fascists would like it to be but, unfortunately for fascism, 25% of its citizens are NOT jewish. And they ain't going anywhere.

It's the whole 'holy land' and rapture thing-plus the continuous vilification of anything Muslim-related on their Tinker Toy news network, Fox.
Heaven forbid the American right wingnuts should think for themselves.

    From your link:

"Mr. Cohen watched the Islamist movement take shape, muscle aside secular Palestinian rivals and then morph into what is today Hamas, a militant group that is sworn to Israel's destruction."

There is no explanation of Hamas' exact origin there.

    And...

"Instead of trying to curb Gaza's Islamists from the outset, says Mr. Cohen, Israel for years tolerated and, in some cases, encouraged them as a counterweight to the secular nationalists of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its dominant faction, Yasser Arafat's Fatah."

It is well known that the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' I really don't see how this has any bearing on the fact that Hamas TODAY is still one in the same as the MB and their charter still calls for the obliteration of Isreal.

"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

Sweet huh? Hamas...Spawned by the 'religion of peace' for more heart-warming phrases...go here...

    http://www.mideastweb.org/hamas.htm

Hey check out those Muslim babes!! To all you women who take the time to go to that link. Look at those women.....If you are American tell me...Who dictates what YOU wear?

The MB charter changed some years ago.

Hassan Al Banna dates to 1928.. Arab nationalism was a result of Zionism.

I have heard too many Israelis bemoan their support of Hamas and express their regrets.

They always compare it to the US funding Al Qaeda.

You evidently think people who are living under hostile occupation should never fight back.

It may have but I didn't post a link to it.

Which is why it says "of blessed memory" I guess....did you miss the fact that this is a CHARTER?

Yeah and the German people bemoan their support of the Nazis....what does that have to do with anything?

Yes, of course........that follows the Socialist world-dogma that everything is the fault of the US. Israel is no different and 'she' likes to slap US in the face from time to time...but....they never bombed our buildings and killed 3,000 innocent souls like the radical Islamists have.

No...It just hasn't worked so far. I think it's more about visceral racial hatred at this point.

You don't know them.. There used to be lots of Christians in Palestine before 1968..

Christians and Arab Jews organized in 1922 to stop the flood of Eruopean Zionists.

You mean an Islamic Caliphate. Weren't you busy before Mubarek fell, minimizing the role and aspirations of the MB? And now predicting what you previously denied?

I mean an arab solution to arab social structure.

Yes, and that appears to be the Mos. Bros. intent

    No. You've become confused somehow.

Most would consider the Caliphate an Islamic social structure but the Arabs did indeed invent it.

It appears then that the US is not going to change course and that the rush to intercultural conflict increases pace.

Ignorance......As if we installed Mubarak.

The Muslim brotherhood, via encouraging the assassination of Sadat essentially helped bring Mubarak to power.

They don't have themselves to thank because they did not inspire this current revolution.....but they do have themselves to disparage because they are much more responsible for Mubarak's long rule than the United States.

I can't wait till they build up enough confidence to go war with Israel so Israel can completely decimate every country involved. Hopefully they don't stop with just the armies either.

That or we get off the oil habit so we can stick a huge middle finger at them and say (*)(*)(*)(*) your oil and let the entire ME cept for Israel die off because that's all they produce. Then Israel can go in and actually make use of the land.

It's typical of a crisis to bring out the closet extremists.
