Mosque in Markham, Ontario, Canada with 135 feet high minaret http://onwardjames.blogspot.com/2011/10/mosque-in-markham-ontario-canada-with.html
Well strangely enough I am neither a Muslim apologist nor a Muslim appeaser. Guess again I think it looks good. What's wrong with it? It's going to be a beautiful Masjid, Insha'Allah. Oh, and just so you know, your ignorance is showing. Salam
You should by now what I'm all about... I know, right? There's lots of beautiful Mosques - and Churches - around the world. Salam
One comes to mind is the Floating Mosque in Penang Malaysia. Stunningly beautiful. Also, the largest religious structure in the world is Angkor Wat in Cambodia and still in use as a religious site. I've been there three times and it still amazes me.
I'm sure it will make a fine addition to the Markam landscape. Most Mosque's are archiitectual wonders.
The mosque in question has caused a lot of tension in the Markham area. The town council has avoided all questions by the people of Markham. The plan is to build a 28000 square foot mosque on a small 2 acre plot of land. How is that beautiful??????? This is an example of Canada's lack of a backbone!!!! The town council is afraid to represent the majority of it's residents! How does a group of 80 worshippers aford to build a mosque that will cost over $6 million??? There are many redflags that have been raised here and Markham residents will not be ignored!!!!! Please help our cause by signing the petition listed below if you are AGAINST the mosque. We need your support and are acting on it tomorrow. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/petition-to-build-markham-mosque-elsewhere.html There is nothing beautiful about a 28000 square foot building with a tower that stands 140 feet tall shadowing the local homes. Please sign our petition!!!!
How is beauty governed by the size? It's not like churches have very dissimilar dimensions. And there are many pretty churches, larger, smaller and similar-sized as this mosque. I think it's the overuse of punctuation that makes this argument appealing. To me, it seems as they're standing up for every religion to be treated equally or equivalently. To make such tough decisions despite the threat of losing votes seems brave to me. Don't know, don't care. If they get it, they can build it. If not, then not. Such is the system of capitalism. Googled most beautiful buildings in the world, many are mosques and many, both mosques and churches, are more than 140 ft. I think your argument needs work, since the current wording makes it false. No
The site itself is a 2 acre plot of land surrounded by housing. A site that should not house a regional worship facility of any sort. There have been multiple attempts to misrepresent the information that is being shared with the public. Rather, the Town Council and organization in charge of the facility have had private meetings to avoid public knowledge. I kindly ask those against this, how close do you live to a regional sized worship facility of any denomination? In this case, parking will overflow onto the streets of the surrounding communities and inconvenience tax paying residents.
I can't seem to see the problem here. Why isn't it beautiful? Lack of backbone? How long have you lived in Canada for? This is a country filled with so many cultures, the Canadian Government isn't going to start stripping them of their rights just because a few Christians don't like them. I don't get why you care so much a Mosque is being built. Drugs. Al-Qaida. Prostitution. Petting zoo's. Threats. The mafia. You name it, they've probably done it. But seriously, as already mentioned, 6 million dollars isn't that much, and obviously they have it so whats the problem? Lol... "red flags"? Such as? You've complained about the size of the Mosque, Canada for allowing them to build it, and that they have 6 million dollars.... Oh. My. God. Those terrorist sons of b*tches not only have money, but they are building buildings now! In Canada! Who do they think they are? Lol. Cute petition though. Good luck. Salam
It is against zoning rules or the law or more importantly what is the point you are attempting to make?
