That is outstanding!! We have plenty of sun, too. We just have a lot of people that absolutely LOVE fossil fuel.
agree, at some point EV's may be that good, but people need to choose that said, both ICE and EV have added to much digital nonsense to cars
Has anyone ever calculated over say a period of a decade... The total amount of batteries necessary to power all of these EVs? Is anyone able to estimate how much of the raw elements that the Earth holds? We know the Earth is practically filled with oil.
According to twitter files, the Trump admin had a back door to censor twitter posters you trying to act like the left had a monopoly on the back door, too funny
My electric wheelchair is technically an EV... However, it has a range of all of about 20 miles, give or take, at 8 mph max, which is about 2.5 hours total. I've never pushed the batteries that hard. It will also break if I try to use it in anything but the lightest drizzle you can imagine, and even that is discouraged. Considering this thing cost my insurance company more than the SUV we use to lug it around, some weather ruggedness would be nice, but alas, not to be. As for EV cars, no thank you. Perhaps when we can go 500 miles on one charge, charge up as quickly as filling up a gas tank, and with as many available places to top off the tank, I will not become interested. Even then, the sustainability needs to improve, as the idea that an EV is superior to an ICE vehicle is mind-bogglingly dumb. Sure, when you're actively driving, in theory you are creating less pollution, but the entire lifecycle... From when the battery components start off as raw materials in the ground somewhere, all the way to the end-of-life and disposal, EVs don't score very well even in the places where they are supposed to excel. Not to mention that, for most people, they're just switching from a gasoline powered vehicle to a coal powered one, it's just the coal plants are out of sight and out of mind. I'd wager the overwhelming majority of people don't even know what kind of electricity is coming into their homes, and except for the stupid ones scared of nuclear power, which is really the ultimate solution here from a big-picture perspective, don't care.
What is that? If it goes as fast as it looks like it might, it could be a solution for me getting around sans a car, which I cannot drive, but at the same time, it would have to work indoors, too. I'm thinking a wheelchair alternative that goes a shitload faster.
I doubt Trump even knows that a "backdoor" even is, when speaking in tech related terms, and given how you've used it, I'm not sure you do, either.
It's because Elon musk is persona non grata. FYI I would buy that piece of **** not because of Elon Musk but because it's a terrible car. Poorly built over priced and inconvenient
No they love having lights and heat/AC. Fossil fuels are the most reliable efficient way to make that happen.
There are a LOT of disability EVs on the market here and not too expensive https://www.mobilityhq.com.au/mobil...MIqMuq7bO8gwMV6sNMAh0tLQdlEAYYAyABEgLimvD_BwE I have some experience with the Pride “boot scooter” which pulls apart to go in the boot of a car. https://www.aidacare.com.au/product...or-mobility-scooter/pride-go-go-boot-scooter/
Well you got me looking and there are stories about Tesla gain, but conflicting stories on whether it is top selling. Fortune says its still Toyota--and I've crossed a few stories that put Toyota at the top. https://fortune.com/asia/2023/12/28/toyota-hybrid-cars-sales-record-2023-top-automaker/ The "green" publications say its Tesla https://cleantechnica.com/2023/12/2...e Tesla Model Y was,the third quarter of 2023. Maybe we need the data to come in completely. Frankly--with Europe's lack of car culture and high gas prices---I can see the pure electric car being popular. The Ford Truck is still top dog for US--especially for our wide open spaces. Pure electric isn't going to work in the wide middle swath our United States. Hybrids are popular though.
I could go for that if there was as many charge up stations as there are gas stations....heck during my husband and my little trip across Kansas and Nebraska---we started having issues even finding gas stations. Back in the early 1900's gas stations started popping up as the car came into vogue...presumably put in place by oil and gas companies and the business owners who saw it as an investment. Maybe these electric car makers or even the supplier of the batteries can take the same initiative once they see it as profitable.
it means it's not the normal way, like for example, you can click report here and report a post, but the Trump admin had a backdoor method of reporting many posts they wanted to be censored, that regular Twitter users did not have
People in the US have been moving away from cars in general for a couple decades, ever since cars became all about fuel economy and largely became increasingly useless otherwise. The F150 has been the best selling "car" for several years now. And Tesla is the major recipient of government largesse currently so it's only logical those bribes are having the desired effect. However, to put it into perspective as someone else pointed out a week or two ago, in 2023 a million EVs were sold. Yay! Until you realize that the total market in the US for light duty vehicles is somewhere between 15 million and 18 million vehicles annually. Combine that with the likely collapse of government support in June, making EVs have to compete on a level playing field, and their continued success is doubtful.
They're getting better but at the rate they are advancing it's still going to be a long time before I would be remotely interested in paying more than a traditional combustion engine machine.
I think the problem is going to be the same with the electric cars you just can't think battery energy density greater than it is. Not without some really fancy materials
The Fortune article claims to be about the highest selling manufacturer. I was noting which is the highest selling car (not truck) as mentioned above. There are 3 pickups that sell more than Tesla Y. Yes, it will be interesting to watch how EV sales by state progresses. I don't expect 2023 data for a while, as it has to get reported and then analyzed.
