Here’s the way it works around here; once you hit our west coast the racism starts to kick in. As you go west to Hawaii the racism is a lot more pronounced. When you hit Asia then you struck racist gold.
There are foreigners in Japan, you do know that, right? However, Japan has changed since the days of Emperor Hirohito, especially with women given rights similar to our own. But it has a unique culture though and I know quite a few Filipino and Chinese who live there, not to mention Westerners.
It's unique culture will fade away because of foreigners. If you truly valued diversity you wouldn't want it diluted with multiculturalism.
I really enjoyed travelling Asia, but there's no denying they are by far the most racist people on the planet. Not because of their immigration policies, just general attitudes.
They have no reason to be so hateful. Asians run the world. They are the highest population, still have countries and culture etc.
I don't think it's hateful as much as not infected by the West's mental illness. They have a very different culture over there. Similar to the West before 5 minutes ago, in the 90s, etc.
Foreigners have been traveling and living in Japan since the early 17th century. And it still has not changed all that much. It has adopted its culture as times have progressed, but not changed.
My experience has been different. The moment I say I am from Texas, I get the usual questions, how many firearms do I own, do I fight Native Americans all the time, Do I know JR Ewing, do I have an oil well in my backyard, and stuff like that. Some say they don't trust Western medicine because it is only 100 years old while their medicine is 1000s of years old. But overall, I have had a positive experience and have accepted criticism when I don't follow their unwritten cultural rules that is very difficult for Westerners to understand. When it comes to black folks, that is where the locals really get personal. They love the Kobe Bryant athletes and their sports skills but will never allow their daughters to date such a person. The culture that is embedded is too deep to overcome in many circumstances. And they are fearful of men in uniform, especially in Okinawa because of what a few have done. Thus, guilty by association is prevelent in a society that is known for groupthink. Finally, our movies and TV shows, especially the older ones have reinforced their stereotypes of us Westerners. But is it racist, I would not go far as in the population, a few maybe, especially nationalists in Japan, China, and elsewhere.
Japan is definitely not a "leftist" country but they do have a conformist socieity. It is why there is a high percentage of the population still wearing masks even though the government stated the Covid Pandemic is over in Japan.
We can't have a major wealthy country continue to retain its ethnic homogeneity. It might make the other countries look bad. You know, things like being able to send your 7-year-old daughter off on the train or subway to school everyday, all by herself, in a major city, without having to worry. If every Japanese family had to escort their young children to school everyday, it would be a major national inconvenience.
Still not as bad as what a woman risks if she walks into New York's Central Park at night, all alone. Now tell us, do you see any parents in New York sending their 7-year-old daughter off on the subway alone? Heck, the parents would probably be arrested for child endangerment.
