Ellory's birth is the fulfillment of a dream of mine. No matter how she was conceived. Amy had always dreamed of having another baby but for various medical reasons (mine and hers) we could never have one. Thus our granddaughter is literally the next best thing.

My only hope is that Annalee and Brandon choose to have another baby sometime down the road. I would love to have a grandson.

Ellory officially started crawling!!! Bo is going to have a lot more trouble getting away from her now!!! That little girl will be into everything!! Can't wait to see her again when we go back two weeks from Friday to celebrate Amy's birthday.

There is nothing better than babies. Not even puppies and kittens come close.

    All for the momoent.

Leaving for Searcy tomorrow after I'm finished with dialysis. We're going to celebrate Amy's 52nd birthday with Annalee and Ellory. Plus Friday night we're going to the Augusta 8 man football game with Brinkley. Joseph Grisham is a Senior so its probably our last chance to see him play.

Saturday we're going to see the house that Annalee found for us. It is just across the street from Brandon's grandparents so we've been up there before (so has Murphy) and have some familiarity with the area. And of course being 100 dollars per month cheaper than the trailer Annalee had found for us makes it even more appealing.

Can't wait to see Ellory of course. Amy had wanted to take her with us to church at Augusta on Sunday of course but I doubt Annalee will permit it as Annalee says it would disrupt Ellory's sleeping and eating schedule. Annalee is really sensitive about that. Still just getting to see Ellory will be good for not only me but for Amy of course.

I picked up a gift for Amy. The complete DVD collection of the original Magnum P.I. Amy has always liked that series and over the last few months it doesn't seem to be on any of our channel packaged. I'll keep the receipt in case she wants to exchange it. I won't be offended.

    All for the moment..

Hard to believe it has been half a month since I last posted. My birthday gift for Amy was a big flop. I thought she really liked Magnum P.I. but she doesn't. At least not like I do. Sure glad I saved the receipt. She got her money back to buy whatever she really wanted.

Ellory is crawling better and more nearly every day. Getting into more and more stuff at her home. She sure is adorable beyond belief. She looks more and more like Annalee did when she was that age.

My sister Debra (oldest at 65) has had a problem with messing up her medication. She has had some kind of urinary tract infection and the medication for that as well as that for her high blood pressure and diabetes all seems to be working against each other. She was supposed to come home today though. Donna and Deanna have both been to see her. Amy and I are going to visit her parents in DeQueen on Saturday and Sunday so we plan to drive back through Texarkana and visit Debra on the way back.

It looks like the new house is a done deal. We've paid the security deposit on it and made arrangements with the (very expensive) movers to move there next month. I've made arrangements to get the electricity and natural gas turned on, and I'm working on the water. It is a far larger house than we live in now so that will make it easier to move into. It is across the street from Brandon's grandparents so I figure they played a role in us getting it. While Amy is in favor of us moving close to Annalee (and Ellory) she has been surprisingly reluctant about us moving yet again. Really can't blame her. Amy figured it up a few nights ago. Amy and I will have been married 25 years next February and this will be the 25th time we've moved. Though this will be the first time we did not move due to a job change.

Of course Amy is pretty upset anyway because her Endocrinologist persists in keeping her on a lower dosage of Synthroid than she took for decades and she is feeling the effects of it.

And of course moving has thrown our 25 Anniversary plans into chaos. I finally suggested that we simply find a large place we want to take an extended visit to and fly there. I suggested Dallas. After all I pointed out to Amy it is such a big place that there are things we would like to see there and do there that we never could before. Amy was receptive to the idea but on the other hand reluctant because Dallas is where we went on our 20th anniversary. Still I think the idea has a great deal of merit.

    All for the moment.

You’ve moved house 25 times in 25 years? Amy must love you.

Hard to believe we are actually moving this Saturday. It has been expensive though I'm pretty sure it could've been far worse. It turned quite cold here after it go through raining Friday night and I still haven't adjusted to it. We loaded up the pickup and SUV and made a special trip up there in order to leave the pickup. Annalee helped us unload the vehicles and then drove back to her house to enable Brandon in loading up the recliner that she decided to give back to us. We spent time visiting with them and with Ellory of course. Ellory is crawling everywhere.

The people at the Church of Christ gave us a gift of $500.00. That was very generous and I never figured on it but it is still welcome. Our dryer stopped working this morning and the guy is coming in the morning to look at it.

Annalee called earlier and pointed out that we got Murphy six years ago today. I've never loved a dog as much as I've loved her. I hope she likes the new place. Amy has said that this is going to be the last move we ever make until we finally get the farmhouse fixed up and move there.

That would be nice though the farmhouse needs thousands of dollars of work done to it. The biggest problem with moving is that I don't have a plac up there that can do my dialysis yet. There are plenty of DaVita branches in the area but I haven't found an open slot for me at any of them yet and it is making me extremely nervous. They've been seeking a spot for me for over a month. Yeah, I'm nervous.

    All for the moment.

We moved Nov. 15 just as we planned. And November 17 And November 18........ It was a nightmare. We were better prepared for this move than any of the 24 previous moves... yet it did no damned good at all !! The movers seemed competent but then once they go the furniture loaded they left everthing else despite having ample room on the moving van!!! I'll never understand that!!!. So we had to rent a UHaul of our own three days later to go load up the remaining stuff. But the day before that I was taking Murphy out to use the bathroom and she yanked hard on the leash. I stepped off the front walk unexpectedly not realizing it was about ten inches high. I stumbled and fell heavily on my right side, painfully bruising a rib on that side. So I had to spend all the next day driving the UHaul and then hours trying to help Amy loading the truck. When we got home I started to help Amy and Annalee unload the truck but then Amy handed me a bag that was very and unexpectantly heavy. As I lifted it with my right arm I felt a "pop" deep in my rib cage and I thought it broke. I was in agony for days.

We never plan to move again unless by chance or the Grace of God we're able to move into the farmhouse (Daddy's place) one day. Still at best that is years in the future. So at least the moving is over.

    For now.

    All for the moment.

The nightmare that Thanksgiving turned into is the subject of a future post.

Ellory's birthday party is tomorrow. She will be one year on Dec. 16th but tomorrow as the day we decided to have her party. Amy's parents and a few other family members are supposed to be coming. Of course most all of Brandon's family will be there but of course they live in town here. Annalee is going to bring Bo by here and leave him during the party. Needless to say him and Murphy do not get along well but it is what it is.

I had my appointment to get the injection in my right eye yesterday. Ran into a monster rain storm on the way and extremely heavy traffic on the way back. Had to wait for a couple of hours to Cget in but overall the injection was nearly as painful as the first time six weeks ago. And just like last time it pretty much stopped hurting the morning after. The doctor said my vision would probably start improving in a few weeks. Can't wait for that to happen.

Nothing good. For reasons too difficult to explain they didn't have a turkey (or any bird for that matter). It was raining heavily all day. I drove up there successfully but given that I can't see well enough to drive at night Amy had to drive us home and she had all kinds of troubles with the narrow, poorly lit road and very heavy traffic. And my father in law (Travis) made fun of my bruised ribs and made light of my future hopes and dreams.

And though they had some delicious deviled eggs, as expected there were not many so I was only able to have just one.

A poor sort of Thanksgiving meal without a turkey.
One devilled egg! That’s a bit miserable.
Travis sounds like an insensitive and rude yob.

Murphy got loose again this morning while she was out on her tether. We had no idea where she had gone but finally she came out of the woods behind the Worley's house across the street. Tom and Phyllis Worley are Brandons (Annalee's husband) grandparents. Tom Worley lured her closer with a treat. I later captured her down the road but she got loose again when Trucker (our landlords big dog) came by. I had mistakenly called "Trucker", "Kody" but now I know better. It was actually somewhat amusing to see Murphy chasing the much larger Trucker (twice her size). Fortunately a lady across the street managed to snare Murphy. As usual when she is caught Murphy does not struggle.

It turns out Murphy's new harness broke. So we got a far more sophisticated one at Walmart that seems much more sturdy. I'm praying that she doesn't break that one.

    All for the moment.

Ungodly cold. I just checked the computer and it's 8 degrees in town fast on its way to the predicted 2 degrees!!! It hasn't been this cold in Arkansas since Christmas of 1989. Of course it was different for me back then as I lived at home with my parents and one thing they knew was how to keep warm. Not to mention their house had an immensely large fireplace that could heat half the house if the fire was well built and even I knew how to build a good fire in the fireplace.

I took Murphy out to use the bathroom a half hour of so ago as she hadn't been out since this morning. She peed and pooped after running around on her long leash awhile. I bundled up carefully. The only thing I neglected was my legs. I should've worn my Long John bottoms but I neglected to. Won't make that mistake again. The wind outside right now is really howling and I don't have to tell you that it's the wind that makes the difference. My dialysis tomorrow has been shortened to only a two hour session due to the weather so it's not all bad. Amy is worried about traveling but she doesn't have to go over to Annalee's again until Sunday night. I have plenty of experience driving on ice and I have the pickup which mounts wide tread high traction tires. I don't want to drive on a slick road but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either.

    All for the moment.

Keep warm everybody and watch out for deer.

    • Well we made it through the horrible cold without any of our pipes freezing though I shudder to think what water and natural gas bills will be in late January. Fortunately it is relatively warm again right now.
The bad news is that Annalee, Ellory, Brandon have all had Covid though based on Annalee's phone call earlier they are all getting better. Ellory's Christmas went well. couldn't get through playing with one new toy before it being time to open another one. We haven't had Christmas with Amy's family yet (Jan. 14) or with my sisters.

My oldest sister Debra and her husband have Covid though Dan is considerably sicker than Debra. I'm praying for all of them of course.

    All for the moment.

I suffered a heart attack two weeks ago tomorrow while in the hospital having four toes amputated (infection). No one in my immediate family had ever suffered a heart attack before so I had no idea what to expect. I ended up with a two week hospital stay and had to have three stints put into my heart though that sure beat the alternative of quadruple by

Recovering at home now. My foot is a bigger issue currently.

    No.

I'm barely recovered. At best. The effects of the severe concussion are still affecting me both mentally and physically. My balance and coordination are still poor. At best. My memory is still chopped up horribly (I still frequently think my daddy is still alive and make plans to visit him again and again.) I was unconscious for several days. Once I woke up I couldn't walk for a couple of days. I'm pretty sure given the decline in my vision since then that I tore something loose in my eyes when I fell. I'll see my eye doctor this week,

The worst thing is that I fully remember what I was like when I was a whole person. Which I'm not at present.

    All for the moment.

    That all sounds awful.
My husband was in an induced coma for a week after his MI.
It took a while for his mental state to settle down. His memory is still a little wonky.
Be patient and don’t push yourself too hard.
Best wishes for your recovery, as I’m sure your friends here will echo.

    @Dayton3
I am sorry to hear that things have gone sideways for you. I check into this thread periodically, but I guess it's been longer than I thought.

As Sallyally said, be patient, recovery is a process that only your body can decide how long it may take.

I am thinking of you and hoping your memory strengthens as well as your body in short order.
